The information came from a 1970s walk through of the cemetery by the Iowa City Genealogical Society. There is a Solon History Group that has been very involved with this cemetery. If you look at photos of other stones you will see that some are posted by them. I put out a request for photo of this stone.

Thank you so much. This will help others a lot. I really appreciate your assistance and your work on Sands Cemetery was wonderful. Nice to have someone who cares for these older cemeteriesa. We finally got our maps of all the cemeteries in Lee County posted at the libraries. Paul Frence of Des Moines Co and I and another gentleman worked on getting accurate GPS readings for each cemetery in Lee County that put you right in the cemetery. I wll see if I have the file on my computer and send a copy of you. It might be a few days before I can get to this however, I am currently working on organizing a large room full of books for the fall sale. Pat M

You were just lucky I guess. We are spending the summer at our camper this year and I don't get on the computer daily as I normally do during the winter months.
About the only thing left in Vernon, Ohio is the cemetery and a few houses. Everyone and everything have left for the BIG cities.

Thank you for helping to make Sarah's memorial more meaningful..

Thank you so much for your time and travels and for the great pictures. Martha was a sister to my 2nd great-grandfather. Again thank you so much for taking these pictures!

I am not related to this family. I just posted a grave photo from the mausoleum.

Hi Gayle, You are very welcome! Thank you for the kind words. I'm sorry that I could not do more. I really enjoy Findagrave and I wish I had time to do more. Mark

I am sorry to say that all records for the Pine St. Cemetery have been lost to the ages. I know that there are several unknown burials in the cemetery and it is very possible that Henry is buried there. I am not connected to the Leighton Family. I live near the cemetery and wanted to post the known burials to Findagrave. Very sorry that I can't be of more help. Mark
