Bio and Links
Bio Photo Retired university teacher and librarian with interest in Civil War burials and burial practices. Also undertaking to photograph all cemeteries in Erath County, TX, and surrounding counties, then to enter the tombstone information into the database. Many older tombstones are in such shape as to be illegible, so corrections to bad or missing biographical information is welcomed.

Please make requests for additions, corrections, links, etc., directly from the memorials' "edit" feature rather than here. I'll get to them much faster. (Transfers to direct descendants, please, and not in bulk lots!)

I'm sorry if my edit was incorrect. Sarah Adkisson married William Henry Mullins, not William Henry Smith. I would appreciate the correction. Thank you for being so prompt.

Just noticed all your virtual cems for Alabama CSA. Thought I would mention that John Wade McCorkle's father's first cousin Francis W McCorkle was killed in battle in Ga. His memorial #102422539. Thanks Little Marie

Thanks for the heads up about the duplicate newspaper obits on John's memorial. I've contacted the lady who posted them and asked her to remove one of them. Since you caught this mistake can I ask if you are related to him. If so I would like to converse as I am also related to this McCorkle crowd. thanks Little Marie

Thanks Ken for keeping this site up to date. It was a lift for me to see my mother's gravestone, although sad that nothing was inscribed on it. My brothers handled everything and well, maybe someday I can buy her one that indicates how special she was to some of us,

Hello,
Thank you for taking some wonderful pictures of the Huff family graves. May I use your photo from this memorial. She is my husband's great grandmother. Brenda

Infant Rogan McSpadden Cemetery
Gordon, Texas

the infant son of RH (Robert H) and MM Maggie M Self Rogan is: Robert Edward "Eddie" Rogan

Thank you so very much for the entry from this cemetery. It took me a while to find this cemetery. I have not had the opportunity to walk this cemetery, and I was hoping that you might remember whether of not this burial is next to other stones. Eddie's mother passed in 1882, and may be buried next to him. I saw that you noted that many stones were not readable. Is there a map of the cemetery burials perhaps in the town of Gordon?

any information is appreciated

Thank you, Anne (Rogan) Goeman-Jones

Georgia Oleta McCleskey
Sorry Key, I messed up late last night... She went by Oleta, not Georgia... I did McCleskeys until I was blue in the face yesterday, but I DID get to speak to these people's daughter yesterday ! I was looking for a living descendant, and found one !
