RE: Adam Catlin
June, thank you for calling this to my attention. I have copied the photo from inside the mausoleum and put it onto your entry. You did yours years before mine was done in 2014 so it is only protocol & right that I delete mine. He sounds like a wonderful man. My husbands family came to Oregon early on the Oregon Land Donation claims in 1850's as well. I have linked your Adam to his wife.

Re: Re: Re: Charles Catlin
I took the obituary differently, in it it states the old homestead was now the town of Catlin, I took it to mean the little cemetery in Catlin,WA which was his home. It can be interpretted many ways, it can't be determined for sure by the wording, this is why I sent it to you. If he was buried on the home place, he might be buried in someones backyard now. I also found an obituary for Adam & it did state burial was to be made in the Catlin Cemetery, I wonder if the family later exhumed the body & reinterred it with his wife in Portland. So many questions. I also went on a hunt to find what happened to Charles son Seth, newspapers give several accounts, some that they believed he drowned in the headwaters of the Cowlitz, they never found his body, a person did find a memorandum book with letters up the mountain about 2 miles further up where they thought he tried to cross the river, it was found 7 months after, others speculated that he was abducted or murdered. I feel there should be some kind of a memorial for this poor lost soul. Seth was born abt 1875 & was lost in May,1895. Poor Charles, dying not knowing what happened to his only son. Very sad!

Re: Charles H Catlin
I found a obituary for him in The Morning Oregonian, it appears he is buried in Catlin Cemetery, he was a son of Seth & Agnes (Redpath) Catlin. I did not want to add to the cemetery without your knowledge.

The Morning Oregonian Monday, Oct 1,1900

Charles Catlin, brother of Judge and Adam Catlin, of this city, died yesterday morning at 354 Salmon Street. For several years the deceased resided on Cowlitz river where his father, Seth Catlin settled in 1843. The town of Catlin is named after the family, and is located where the old pioneer first built his cabin. In 1884, the deceased moved from Catlin to Tacoma, where he invested in real estate. He remained there until 1895, when he lost his son, Seth. Following that he returned to Catlin, on the Cowlitz river, and resided at the old home until his health failed. Recently he came to Portland for treatment. He suffered from a complication of diseases. Mr. Catlin left a wife, who is a daughter of Dr. Ostrander of Olympia, Wash., and two daughter, Mrs. Grant Foster of Catlin, Wash.,and Mrs. Lake D. Wolford, of Spokane. He was known among his friends as a man with very strong will power and fine character. Wherever he had business dealings, which covered most of Washington and Oregon, he left friends who will remember him for his good qualities. The body will be taken Tuesday for burial in the little cemetery at the old Catlin home.

Dear Concerned Find-A-Gave Contributors and visitors,

Regarding: DUPLICATE MEMORIALS in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia,Rockingham Va,Hardy WV and surrounding area.

A former large volume F-A-G Contributor had a dispute with Find-A-Grave staff and Deleted some 80% or more, of their contributed memorials, estimated to be about 40,000 or so. Thus causing the rest of us local Contributors, over the last year or more, to re-enter those family, friends and distant relatives we noted were missing.

Once F-A-G had decided to take positive action, they reloaded all the Deleted memorials from that former F-A-G Contributor, on Wednesday, 25feb2015. F-A-G staff, undoubtedly knew they would cause tens of thousands of Duplicates, and assigned their staffer, known as 'ProjectMgr' to work through their Merge process.

Please be patient and allow F-A-G to work through the entire group of Duplicate memorials.

Thank you.

If anyone gets Find A Grave to transfer memorials cared for by ProjectMgr Just a heads up I dont delete any connected to ProjectMgr.I worked hard to replace all the memorials that had been deleted.Find A Grave choice to re-upload the Old Deleted memorials And we work free on this site.So if anyone wants our memorials Have Find A Grave Merge them or if you dont have a problem merging then more power to you.

I do want to thank anyone that has helped with my duplicants created after the major upload of old memorials formerly deleted.I really appreciate the help.
