My Mom stated recently that I come by my love of cemeteries naturally. Apparently this is how my parents dated, they would jump in the car and go find old cemeteries and wander through them.|
In 2005 my Dad stated that he wanted to know his roots. I dove in deep, spending many long hours unlocking the puzzle to our family history, exploring many branches. While I still spend many long hours working to find those tiny fun tidbits to add to our tree; I also want to help others on their journey to finding their ancestors and help to preserve history. Currently, the main line that I am researching for my tree is the Wallace line.
If you think I might be able to be of assistance please feel free to email me or leave a message here and I would be glad to help. If you have a contribution to a memorial please do not be shy in letting me know. I am pretty passionate about preserving history and want to be accurate. I try to find as much information as I can to make it complete as I feel strongly that each person should be honored and remembered in every way possible. All contributions big or small are welcomed and appreciated. If you are family and would like to maintain the memorial let me know and I will transfer the memorial to you.
Active as of April 2016.
Please note: If you come across photos where the file seems small and is unable to enlarge, yes I am aware of this. These photos were taken within the parameters of Find A Grave's requirements prior to their changes in what they would accept size wise. No, I am not able to fix them. Thank you.

|jimvm||RE: Lyon Cemetery|
I finally was able to locate the Lyon Cemetery in Washington County. It's in a wooded area at the end of a driveway off of Brinkley Road, just northwest of Rich Valley Road. The cemetery was in bad shape; very overgrown with weeds, vines and bushes, gopher holes, etc. I had to use a machete to clear away a lot of overgrowth just to walk around searching. Neighbors told me that for many years an older gentleman took care of the site but he stopped coming a few years ago. Out of the 37 graves that are supposed to be there, I was only able to locate about a dozen. A couple were marked by small stones that bore initials but no names/dates. I'm sure there were headstones for those at one time but I could not find them. I took photos of the headstones and other stones that I could find and posted the headstones. Unfortunately, I was unable to locate the two headstones I was most interested in -- my 3rd great grandparents, Stephen Lyon and Margaret Snodgrass.
Thanks again for all the great work you do for this site,

Thanks, Emily, for getting back to me. In the interim, I found the location for the Lyon Cemetery. Now, I just have to make it to Abingdon one of these days.

I saw the cause of death on Daisy but wondered about her son. Thanks for the info! I solved my curiosity.

Would you please transfer John Henry White's memorial page to me? He is my Great-Grandfather.
Are there any grave markers at the Shortt Cemetery?
