|I am considered 'morbid' by some of my frinds, because of my interest in the locations' of the graves of the famous. Their opinions are of small interest to me, for each time I locate the grave of someone who enriched my life in some way, I feel I have paid that person a little respect, or thanked them. |
I work in television (UK) and travel a great deal, old cemetaries are always of interest, especially those in the USA. I am often impressed by the thought that has clearly gone into the verse on a gravestone. Sometimes, a persons entire life can be judged by the inscription. I once saw the grave of a mill owner (South Wales UK) who had been something of a tyrant (circa 1880). The simple inscription on the stone read, "May God forgive me" - Crawshaw Bailey.
