Bio and Links
Bio Photo I was born in the lower Bull Run Valley of Anderson Co ,TN and baptized in the Bull Run River. My mom and dad bought 12.9 acres from the descendants of John and Sarah Cox in 1946. This has been home since that time. The Cox Cemetery is located on a hill behind my home for which I maintain as a voluntary caretaker. As such I wanted to know more about this family and started doing research online ,at the public library and the county archives. This area of 1000 ac was a 1788 NC Land grant to James Henry who conveyed it to his three married daughters, Elizabeth, Rachael and Ruby Catherine.

A large number of my mothers ancesters are buried at Bakers Forge Cemetery in Campbell Co., Tn. Most were relocated there when TVA impounded Norris Dam and flooded nearby Loyston in Union Co.,Tn. At that time my mom age 12 moved with her grand parents Lassie Helen Craig Prater Turner and William Harvey Turner to land across the Bull Run River in Anderson Co from which is still in view from her front porch. My mom is related to the Sweats,Craigs,Dials,Praters,Turners and others at Bakers Forge .
My grand father John York came with his family to South Clinton in Anderson Co in the 1920's from Cordell in Scott Co.,Tn and is related to the Yorks,Jeffers,Newports,Lewallens and Sextons of that county. I am far more knowledgable of my moms family. I get very confused when I do research on the Sextons of Scott Co. There are thousands!- and all with the same first and last name!Ugh!

I am a recently retired RN of 35 yrs. Local history,my 6 dogs, gardening, wildlife, preservation and conservation are passions.

I will always be eager to help with links, photos, transfers.
" I always wonder what the people were like whom I'm tromping over and photographing. It's neat to sometimes get a feel for the reality of who they were and how they lived their lives. They sneezed, they dropped stuff that broke, they tripped over something in the dark or stubbed their toes, they hated okra or loved it fried in cornmeal, they loved to laugh or was mad at the world." by Edie Doepel #46583214

James Craig
Hi Leo,

We are Craig cousins. On your gg grandfather's memorial, you have "Married Lucey Ann Sweat 21 March 1876 in Union Co. by FP Miller,JP." FP Miller was Franklin P. Miller, Justice of the Peace. He married into the Craig family indirectly. Frank also married my gg grandfather, James A. Craig. Here is Frank's Find A Grave memorial so that you can better see the family connection. Please let me know if you have any questions. I would love to share our Craig genealogical information with you.

Franklin P. Miller

John Craig Sr. was my ggg grandfather and the brother of your ggg grandfather, Reuben Craig. Your gg grandfather (James Craig) may have been named after my gg grandfather (James Craig) since he was born 20 years later.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Carlos Lawson
Carlos F. Lawson is buried in Roselawn.

Woodland emetery has no record of burial for him so I thought I better let you know before someone goes walking Woodland to search for a marker.

Jane Sommer, past recordkeeper of Woodland Cemetery.

Bonnie Strunk
You photographed the cemetery where Bonnie Strunk is buried. Bonnie was born October 31, 1937 and died on the same date. The handwritten notes by Vanie Jeffers Strunk in the Family Bible is the only documentation.
Thank you for your hard work!

Please could you delete your memorials and add their death certificates to the original memorials. Thank you.
