Thank you for following FindAGrave procedures.

Contributor Connie posted this. I thought it was such a great idea I posted it to my page! Thanks, Connie!

Find a Grave has implemented a new way to submit Edits! Unfortunately, there are far too many members for Find a Grave to notify everyone via email, so it's up to us to get the word out. If every member posts this message (or similar) in their profile, hopefully we can help spread the word.

To suggest a correction (SAC) click on the edit tab of the memorial that needs to be corrected. Then click on the link which best describes where your edit should occur. Enter your correction, when you're done, click submit edit. Your request will be sent to the manager of the memorial and will appear in the managers' profile under the Edits tab.

Managers will no longer receive emails. They must go directly to their profile page and click on the Edits tab. Managers can approve, deny or ignore, suggested corrections. It's quick and easy!

The exception:
Requesting a transfer other corrections are still handled the same way. Click on "suggest any other correction or addition," type your message and press "send this message." The manager of the memorial will receive an email.

Please ask permission before posting my personal family photographs, photographs I have taken of grave stones or biographical material I have written from my memorial pages on this site to or any other website or personal webpages.

Please see FindAGrave Frequently Asked questions for more information:

How do I get a relative's memorial transferred to me?
First, Determine if you really need the memorial transferred to you for management. Transferring of management should only be requested If you have extensive changes to make to a memorial. You can add photos and suggest corrections without having to request management. Simply having someone in your family tree is not grounds for a management transfer request. With hundreds of thousands of contributors, we have many overlapping family trees and it would be impossible for all contributors to manage their entire tree.

Many thanks to everyone who has contributed information and photos for my memorials. I usually link to the individual contributor using HTML code. If this is unacceptable to you just let me know you prefer to remain anonymous.

RE: Vanderslice
Done! I will do Elderkins as well. Francis Kerr #132006829 shares his stone with his wife Marion. I have a picture for her if you happen to know her memorial number. I couldn't find a memorial for her so I'm not sure if she has one or not. Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

RE: Isreal W. Tennis
It's my understanding that cadets and faculty who died while at the academy in earlier times have their names placed on the monument as a memorial. I'm not sure if that means they're actually buried on West Point. With me not finding his name on interment locator, I'm not positive that he is here (though I could be wrong). I will do my best to find out this week though.

RE: Kent
I will definitely go back to look. It started to get extremely cold so I headed out and wasn't as thorough as I should have been with checking the markers.

RE: Willoughby Sprigg Chesley
My apologies about the links. I guess its getting late and I looked and didn't see the link. I sent you a couple of SAC's for your consideration.

RE: Lily Davis White
I use this source a lot, along with GenealogyBank and some other sites. I love newspapers! Just found the death notice of D'Arcy Paul, probably the cousin who walked Lillie down the aisle. I think his parents were Samuel Buckner Paul and Sophronia Pickrell. She was the daughter of John Pickrell, and I'm thinking, Esau's sister.

RE: Lily Davis White
I did find her living with her aunt Virginia in 1880. She was listed as Lillie Pickrell, daughter, but since she was the only household member born in MS, she kind of stood out (and it was transcribed as Minnesota). So it sounds like her aunt had adopted her, even if unofficially, which makes the death certificate confusion more understandable.

RE: Lily Davis White
I found and downloaded the death certificate, thanks

RE: Lily Davis White
This might also explain why the marriage of Lily's parents (father from NC, mother from SC, marriage in MS) was carried in the Petersburg, Virginia newspaper (abstract at Library of Virginia online catalog).

RE: Lily Davis White
Can you tell me where this came from? "to Miss Lillie Davis, neice of Mrs.Esau Pickrell, took place last evening at 7 o'clock ... The bride was given away by her cousin, Mr. D'Arcy Paul, of Richmond, Va."

I have this from the Evening Star (Washington, D.C.) dated 22 Sep 1881: Schaefer-Davis. At Christchurch, Georgetown, D.C. at 7 p.m., September 21, 1881, by Rev. Albert Stuart, Lieut. H.W. Schaefer, United States navy, to Miss Lily V. Davis.

What you said makes sense, this probably is Lily, and Virginia Davis Pickrell is probably Lily's maternal aunt - born in NC in 1828 according to her page. Lily's father was born in NC in about 1830.

I didn't understand this that you wrote: "On the opposite site of their stone is Lamar Davis:
Find A Grave Memorial# 55912650"

Do you have a copy of the actual death certificate? Or is it available at Ancestry? I do have a subscription there but hadn't checked there yet. I only found the transcription of the record at FamilySearch.

Thanks for the great information.

RE: Breitenbach
Thank you!!! I tried looking for him, but I guess I missed him when looking at the list of Frank Breitenbachs. I knew you would know where it could be found! Thank you again!
