It is always my pleasure to help. Anything else let me know

Please disregard the previous message I left. Of course that John Rosa did not serve in the civil war, he was born during the war. I think I have been staring at this screen too long looking at too many John Rosas in the census. Sorry about that.

This John Rosa buried in Indian Creek is my great great grandfather. Many of my ancestors are buried there. I am trying to determine if this is the John Rosa who served in the 97th Illinois Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. That unit was formed in Calhoun Co.and that name is on the company roster.I have my doubts because Army records list John Rosa as 32 years old ( don't know if that is at enlistment or discharge). There is a John Rosa buried at Sunset Cem. in Quincy without birth/death dates. The stone has 97th Ill.Inf on it. Any info would be appreciated.

He plans to see a family member and also check at city hall to see if he can come up with some helpful information on this. He is very busy and it may take him a while to complete this.

No, I'm not related. My husband and I visited the cemetery on a trip to LA a couple of months ago so I took 100 or so photos and am slowly adding them. Came across his son, Walter, so did a little research. Unfortunately I missed Mathew's monument when I was there. I can tell I missed something unique.
