Bio and Links
Bio Photo I've been interested in Genealogy since 'Root's aired in the 70's. With the help of my Grandmother Ruth Dyer, I got off to a great start. I'm researching Dyer, Harwell, Skinner, Slocumb, Roberts, Marks, Lazenby, Bradley, Mitcham, and so on. Sometimes I get overwhelmed, but I love doing it.

John Gilstrap
Hi Deborah!

I believe I also may be the 4th Great-granddaughter of John Gilstrap and was hoping you might have information that could help me make the connection. I received a hand-written family tree from my great-aunt listing John W. Gilstrap & Martha Elrod Durham as the parents of Dilly Anne Gilstrap (my third great-grandmother); however, I am unable to find her in any list of their children. Have you come across that name in your research of the Gilstrap family?

Thank you so much for your help!

RE: Vivian
Vivian was a son of Elisha and the father of Modell. Modell married my uncle Tommie Daniel and they had three children...Carolyn, Marion and Wayne. I don't know where Carolyn is buried nor where or what became of Marion. Wayne is dead and buried in Tennessee. I have had contact with his two wives and a few of his children.

Hi Donnie, Would you happen to know where Carolyn Cathey is buried? She was the daughter of Tommie and Modelle Daniel. I'm her cousin, her grandfather Scarborough and my grandmother were I believe, 1/2 brother and sister. Her parents were Elisha and Mary Frances Scarborough.

Deborah, did you ever have any luck finding where Carolyn was buried? To refresh your memory she is a 1st cousin of mine. Would you share your Scarborough info with me?

If I am correct, your ancestor and our ancestor, Earl Dean Bradley were brothers. I am also researching this family. Please contact me as I have pages and pages of information that I would be interested in sharing.

Noted in another message that your husband was related to Mary Jane "Myrick" Hughes. While searching my family tree, found that I too am a distant relative. Samuel D. Hughes, son of William & Mary Jane was my Grandfather. I am trying to take the "Hughes" family tree as far back as I can and am having problems getting beyond William M. Hughes (1865-1940). Appreciate any information or suggestions.

Hi Deb, No, no luck yet. I'm in agreement with you. He is probably in a homestead graveyard and may at this point be unmarked. We'll just have to hope that someone runs across it searching for other graves. Will let you know if anything turns up. Rebecca
