Andrew is in the 1860 census with 5 other children.

There is a marriage record on Family Search where a Henry Carpenter married Martha J. Grant in Pike County June 25 1865. I looked through all my cemetery, marriage & obit books for Gilkey and Carpenter. Did not find Henry Carpenter or William Gilkey.

I do not know the family. The children I linked was info taken from cemetery records. Henry is only listed as her husband. She is on same stone as Amanda & Andrew. Re: Cemetery records They are the only 3 listed. If I remember correctly I received an edit to link them. I have entered over 1500 for this cemetery in the past 2 weeks and more to add. Hard to remember all the details. Sorry I can't be of help. If you want a transfer let me know via the edit link.

|Wilma Madison||Bartis Robartis Barnes|
Death Records. Information for his death in the War and death in a hospital in Knoxville Tn from Small Pox. Do you have records to support the death in the War?
He is my Great Grand Uncle and there are family lore stories about his fighting for the Confederate Side and his brother Steven fighting on the Union Side. It also has his death in the Battle of Nashville, being buried there and then later moved to National Cemetery in Knoxville. Fold3 has records of his wife Lucy Jane Gilkey and her efforts to receive pension and the mix up of Names either Robartis or Bartis. Would appreciate any information you might have on him. Thank you Wilma Madison
|Nancy Jackowiak||RE: John Gilkey|
I emailed you this Gilkey line back as far as I have it...did you get it? It was in excel format. The 3 living Gilkey's I know will not talk to anyone. They have no interest in this genealogy and are very private people and sice John Phillip died so young I know they did not have direct contact with the Gilkeys. I will happily try to answer any questions I know the answer to.
