I was born in Hoboken, New Jersey and grew up in Hudson and Bergen County before settling in Sussex County. When I was a boy I listened to family members talk about the Italian, German, French, Irish and Native American (Mohawk) ancestry that runs through my blood. Growing up with no father and having a mother who supported five kids and worked three jobs was very tough on the whole family. I needed someone or something, I didn't know. I started hunting for snakes at the local cemeteries and found myself surrounded by tombstones that I really didn't pay attention too. Just about that time I saw a television series "Roots" by Alex Haley. I was amazed on how he traced his family all the way back to Africa, I was hooked! When I was in Basic Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma someone told me about Geronimo's grave being on post, well I was excited and had to see it. I had served in the military for 8 years. When my father heard that I was in the Army he told my family that he needed to see me. It was a year and a half before Desert Storm. This meeting took place at his apartment in North Bergen and from that day on, I had my father's connection that I was missing my whole life. But life itself isn't fair and on the day I was supposed to see him in uniform, he suffered a major heart attack. That connection was broke forever and so I searched for someone or something once again to fill that void in my life. It took a couple of years but I had finally found that missing piece. It was genealogy and like a lightning bolt I was struck, big time. That lead me to findagrave.com, slowly but surley I now arrived to my Africa. I hold my dearest memories not only to humans but animals too. I had two loving cats in my life, Ginger and Kizzy.|

Did you compile the story on his memorial or was that added by someone else. If you did, I would like permission to copy and add it to my Ancestry.com.

I would like permission to copy the stories you have added to Findagrave for the Danforth and possibly the Ryle families from Paterson, NJ. They would be added to my Family Tree Maker and cited. Thank you for your interest in all of this. It helps many of us that live so far away.

I hope you're not sick Gregory, but I also hope like some others that you haven't become bored with Findagrave now that you've created over 5000 memorials of American veterans. I notice in the past year you haven't done any edits of individuals who have posted public messages to you, nor have you made requested transfers. There are families of these heroic veterans out there who want to put personal information on your memorials and link them. If you're no longer able, or unwilling to do the responsible thing, please consider giving your memorials to someone who will.

Last month sent some information to be added to Col. Roberts site that included connections to his parents that have yet to be posted. I noticed you have great volume of sites to upkeep and if it meets with your approval would be happy to accept a transfer and post the material. My wife is connected to both of Col Roberts parents families (Roberts & Hodges) my ID is 47746315. I appreciate all your efforts particularly for all the veterans.
