I became interested in genealogy in 1978. I had always been told that if you met someone named Hawpe you were related. So I set out to confirm the story. I was able to trace the HAWPE lineage back to a Rudolph Hawpe who settled in Greenville, Augusta County, Virginia in 1784. There I hit a brick wall and was unable to find the next generation. |
My brother Gary Hawpe became interested and we began tracing the descendants of Rudolph Hawpe. He has a website on our family (Hawpesville) where we have placed some of the information we have discovered over the last 35 years. As of April 16, 2016 we have identified over 14,423 descendants of Rudolph Hawpe plus spouses.
In September 2009 that brick wall came tumbling down. All it took was one swipe of a swab for DNA testing which was submitted by my brother Gary. Which resulted in finding the Hawpe ancestral homeland and clues to taking the lineage back to the early 1500's.
I joined Find A Grave in February 2010 and have been creating memorial pages for those descendants and their spouses who we have burial locations for. Another big project has been to find memorials of these descendants, created by other gravers and suggest corrections and provide additional information to be added to them and have them linked to the next generation or spouse.
I appreciate all the volunteers who take photos of these graves as they are scattered all across the country.

I have transferred the Wright memorials to you as requested.

I have made the transfer for Gene Martel Jackson #162542414 per your request.
I get that, it's a concern for everyone these days. For alterations, I generally only use a few initials IF I don't have time to verify the connection or data. Sometimes there are conflicting requests as you know. If people provide some proof of connections, I can put it through right away. I just finished going through 25 requests and it took me 2 days to verify them. I try to leave personal data instead on the private edit SAC's and not on the profile pages, but I slip up, too.

Hi D, Sorry, I transferred Mary to you last night, so couldn't make the changes. I was working on a lot of them at once. Sam P had sent me the data on her passing. Also, I thought you'd sent me an email about one of my sites on Find A Grave, while I was on vacation and thought I'd left it for my return home, but I can't seem to find it. I don't recall who it was now. I'm sorry, my bad.
I don't know if you're familiar with Wm Ledgerwood Patterson (D 1909), but am seeking his connection to my kin, the early Wm Ledgerwood (14984327, reach me on his wife Agness Ledgerwood's site, IF you have any knowledge, as I maintain her). Thanks
