Bio and Links
Bio Photo The day I was born on June 18, 1941, I said to my Mother and Father, "Who are you and who I'm I", thus started my search of my family tree. I have been doing that ever since.
Searching New Jersey for Applegates I crossed paths with the Revolutionary War and started my collection of everything of George Washington.
I'm now in the middle of the Civil War with no end in sight.
I was lucky to know all four of my grandparents and they were all very good at relaying family stories, even if they did embellish the tales a little.
My Mother and Father dated for seven years during the depression before getting married in 1934.
She lived in Tuckerton, NJ on the Crik and Father lived in Haddonfield, NJ about one hour apart. They wrote two love letters to each other, every week for the entire seven years and my Mother saved everyone of them. What a great collection.
After my Mother was married and living in Haddonfield, she wrote letters to and from her Mother in Tuckerton, and she save everyone of them also.
All my many Aunts and Uncles are gone now, but I try to keep the family of cousins together by hosting a Applegate Family Reunion every September.
After my career as a building contractor in Haddonfield, I find myself retired and living in
(you guessed it) Tuckerton.
So, the search goes on for the few missing links.

Mr. Applegate, I just saw the beautiful pic you have on the find a grave entry for Catherine Miller Applegate, memorial number 41332583. I assume the pic is actually of Catherine Miller Applegate, even though the memorial doesn't actually say so. I am wondering if you have any idea when the pic was actually taken? Catherine looks so young. Thanks for a speedy reply. :-)

Ensign Miller
Hi, Thomas.
I've just made the edits you suggested for Ensign Miller. In looking at your virtual cemeteries it appears he is your family member. Would you like me to transfer his memorial to you? I have no connection to him.
Thanks,
John

John A Applegate
In 1990 I took my wife and daughters on a trip between Carson City NV and Salt Lake UT to photograph every Pony Express Station. You write about a rock that has a inscription on it. The Rancher who owned the property took us to the station, and then to the rock. I have photos of the Rock. The inscription reads John Applegate and Ralph Lozier Killed by Indians 1860. I've been to the site 2 times since then and I couldn't find the rock. I hope it is in a museum and not in some ones Rock Garden. The information on Find a Grave says that John Applegate died in the 1870s but the rock and PX History says the year was 1860. I would be happy to send you a picture of the rock.

Dear Thomas F. Applegate,

Thanks for all your doing, have done, shall do. It is well said.

Have you looked in Essex County? Especially 07043 a US Postal ZipCode for Upper Montclair. The Applegate's had a dairy fram off of Grove Street.

That Applegates Farm ( business of Ice Cream, now under the 3rd owners for decaeds ) doing retail.

Please add as your friend. On Find a Grave now too..

Regards,

Jonathan Robert De Mallie
