Bio and Links
Bio Photo I finally found out what my favorite hobby is and thats locating graves in cemeteries and I love it. Have been doing family tree for about 15 years and find it facinating. Have been married for 38 years and have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. Love reading, bingo, Dollywood and the aforementioned grandchildren.

Live in New Kent County,(birthplace of Martha Washington) Virginia, between Richmond and Williamsburg.

I really appreciate all of the corrections, edits, and help I have had on findagrave. I love taking pictures for others too.

RE: Michael Burns
I'll be happy to check for him next week in the records at the State Library. I'll note that, though there is no official "pauper's section" at SHC, there was a large part of the Cemetery set aside for single-grave sales, and a number of indigents and poor were buried there.

I wish I could. I was only able to make out what looks like ALICE the rest in eroded and I can't read it. The is looks like 'daughter of'

Jos. H and Mary L Colquitt then a date that I cannot read.

The only hesitation I have is it looks like a child's memorial. I looks them up is several census' 1850 - 1880 and found Alice but no other daughters starting with an 'A'.

I do know that this is a large plot and not all of the graves are marked. There at least 2 unmarked one from the 1930's and one from the 40's.

Hope that helps

Links done to her parents. Obituary added.
Is there anything else I need to add to her memorial. I'm sure you are aware that you can add a family photo to the memorial.

I follow the Find-A-Grave guidelines regarding the transfer of memorials. Any transfer requests should only be for direct relatives within four generations. This would be siblings, parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Hi Sandra,

The picture was taken today and the grave is located in Section 6, Plot 421. It's located right by the road.

If you go to www.mcalvary.com and then click on "Search for Grave Sites". Enter her last name in the search area and click on search. When her name appears look for he red dot at the bottom of Section 6. That is the location of the grave. You can also, click on her name and it will enlarge the area plot area.

Hope this helps you.

Vawter request
Hi, I went to Lynchburgs Old City Cemetery today. They have a Vawter family plot that is surrounded by a 4ft stone wall. The only headstone in it is for a Bransford Vawter (Lynchburgs first poet).
The cemetery office says that Susannah is buried in the plot but her marker has not survived. They feel certain that Benjamin Vawter is also buried there but they have poor records from that time. I photographed the plot but I wasn't sure if you wanted me to post it to the memorial page without headstones as proof. Just let me know. Aimee
