Hi- I never saw the original death certificate for Delila Henry Van Valkenburgh, only a reference to it. Sorry. I did see the census record when she was with her daughter's family. I believe her to be the daughter of Sarah Henderson and Isaac VV (b 1821 OH) who married in Davidson Co, TN in abt 1853. I don't know where the name "Henry" came from. I had thought maybe the "H" stood for her mother Sarah's family. FYI Cheatham Co TN was formed of that area of Davidson Co a couple of years after the VV marriage so they didn't likely move.
One of the census records seemed to label her "Henrietta" but ref to her death was "Henry." Maybe the person writing abt her has seen the death certificate. =Nancy

What information do you have on Thomas J Campbell born Dec 16 , 1873 and died May 19, 1946? That was my grandfather. I am trying to find out the names of his parents so that I can trace backwards. The Mormon site has James M Campbell as his father and Mary Ann Van Valkenburg as his mother but I find other info in Ancestry. Just wondering if you have any info or places where I can confirm that.

Found out who all this was. Jochem A VV and Orinda Hodge had dau Jane Cathlina VV b 30 Sep 1815 bot 07 Jan 1816 Claverack RDC.I follow Jane's family(Samuel H Clark) to Medina, Orleans Co, NY where he is buried. He is #71179368. Their son Charles E Clark is also buried there. There are all sorts of relations in that cemetery!
If I can find Jane's burial, I'll make an entry for her since I have the info needed.

I found that J A Van Valkenburg (# 145814113) also had a daughter Miss Jane C VV, who married May 1, 1837, to Samuel H Clark, editor of the Pennsylvania Intelligencer and State Democrat-Harrisburg Pct.
J A VV is listed as "Esquire of Claverack." found on Google Books.
Samuel H Clark/Clarke appears in 1840 Census in Harrisburg, PA. There are several people in household too old to be their children so he must've been widowed at time of their 1837 marriage. I lose them after that 1840 Census record.
Too often the girls get lost because their names do not appear anywhere. I don't know her particulars.

Do you know anything about this one? Saw your flowers from mid-June. The info of death certificate is correct for the daughter of Isaac VV and Sarah Henderson, who married in Davidson Co, TN. The area became Cheatham Co almost immediately. Isaac was a blacksmith b in 1821 in OH;Sarah was either daughter or wife of Bennett Henderson, of Nashville in 1850 Census.Isaac and Sarah split and he went to Montgomery Co, TN while she lived in Cheatham Co. By 1880 Sarah had remarried to Thomas Elliot and daughter "Delia H Van" (14) was living with them in Cheatham Co, I lose them after 1880.
In 1873 Isaac returned to Cheatham Co to marry a Mary Perkins ( or maybe a son was named Isaac?) . I lose Mary and Isaac after their marriage.
Tonight I found the death certif for "Henry Martin" and believe it to be Delia H VV. The death occurred at 82 in Flint, MI but was she Mrs. Henry Martin?
Hope the reunion is great. I need a research trip to MI for the Rodenbaughs.
Please tell Carol the book isn't lost. Will send pronto.

In a LaClede History I found a reference to Henry when he was an old man. He was visited by "Blackjack" (General John J) Pershing who was in LaClede on a visit. Pershing grew up in LaClede and Henry was referred to as his "old teacher." (Pershing was stationed in Huntsville, AL, during the Spanish American War and was associated with the family of Union Colonel John Van Valkenburgh.)
A California legend, probably out of Escondido, has it that one of John's granddaughters, probably Ella Gaither VV, had a huge crush on Pershing. He wasn't married at the time he visited Huntsville. Pershing's mother Ann was from nearby in TN.
