After studying my own family tree, I started the Daglish One-Name Study.

A One-Name Study researches the origins and distribution of a name, as well as all persons with that surname, and any variants.

One-Name Studies can often provide useful information to others with interests in the name. You can see a list of registered One-Name Studies at the Guild of One-Name Studies website.

As part of my research I often visit graveyards and cemeteries and have begun to take an interest in memorials with other surnames, typically the less common names and often those studied by fellow members of the Guild of One-Name Studies.

I am not so interested in the graves of famous people - rather those of "ordinary" people whose lives are remembered.

Whitehouse memorial
I am most grateful to receive the photo of the memorial for Henry David Whitehouse on the panel at Runnymede.

My mother emigrated to Canada before WWII and our family in Canada do not have a lot of family history from England.

Henry David Whitehouse was my uncle, a gunner on an RAF bomber in WWII, and was killed in 1939 at the age of 22.

Your memorial photo will be added to our family archives, and I hope to visit the memorial in person before too long.

Thanks so much for your excellent work.

RE: Louis Jacobsen Memorial
Thank you for your efforts

Louis Reginald Jacobsen was born on 5th March 1915 and grew up here in Wellington, New Zealand.
He left NZ in 1938 for a short service commission in the R.A.F. He served in Norway in Squadron 283.
He was 19 years older than me so I didn't really know him. I just remember how much his family grieved for him and his younger brother Brian who went missing over Burma and is, I believe, commemorated in Singapore.

Again, thank you for what you are doing. I believe Runnymede is a beautiful, peaceful place

From the bottom of our hearts
Dear daglish,

Thank you very much for taking time to take the pictures. It takes a very kind person to help people you don't even know.

Like the song says:"Harrigan Harrigan that's me".

Wishing you rainbows.
