| Bio and Links | I've been doing genealogy research for about 30 years. I started before you could turn on your computer and do the research from your home. While I enjoy the convenience of using the internet to do research, I still enjoy the more "hands on" approach. I've taken many trips over the years to courthouses, cemeteries, to visit elderly family members, etc. along the way. For me, the online research just doesn't bring the same satisfaction that I feel when I am able to go dig up the information in person. I've enjoyed meeting cousins that I never knew I had, and I've also been able to reconnect with family members that I've lost contact with over the years. This has become a great hobby, and I've enjoyed learning all the interesting stories, both good and bad, about my family history. I hope I have and am playing some small part in getting younger members of my family interested in what came before them.
I'm happy to share whatever information that I have. Feel free to use the grave photos that I've added without contacting me. I've uploaded them for your use. All I ask is that you list where you got the photo along with the cemetery, city, state so others can find the grave if they wish to visit it. I'm happy to take photos of graves in my area for other people and upload them to memorials here. I think of it as a kind of payment for those who have been kind enough to get photos for me. I try to take the kind of photos that I would like to have....well focused, as readable as possible, and a good angle.
As for the more PERSONAL PHOTOS, I'd like to be contacted before anyone adds them to another website or uses them in any other way. I love sharing, but I also like to know where and how my research and/or personal family photos will be used, and I like to know that credit is given to the proper individual(s) if my research or photos are used by others. I feel it's extremely important that future researchers be able to get to original sources of pictures and other documents the same way that I and others did. It's very frustrating to see a supposed photo of someone on the internet, but the person posting the photo doesn't have the original, can't tell you where the original is or any other information about it, and doesn't even know for sure that the photo is correctly identified.
I'm happy to transfer any memorials that don't belong to my family. Just let me know if I am managing a memorial which is of your family member, and I'll get it transferred to you ASAP if I'm not related. I like to see memorials in the hands of family or friends who can add to the memorial and make it the best it can be.

 | RE: Hugh Witt Barrow Grave Yes you have my permission to post this picture as you want. | | | Tom King
 | RE: Kings I believe that Your Benjamin and My GGG grandfather both have the same father. The only documents that support this theory is the fortunate winners in the 1832 Cherokee Land lottery in Gwinnett co. for the Orphans of Thomas King(most likely John and Carter King). It seems that John King may have settled later on the property which is now in Roswell , Fulton county.... ....and the 1810 Abbeville , SC census for Thomas King has two males under the age of 10 in his house hold.....maybe one is Benjamin since he was born in 1809 in Abbeville. If only I could find this Thomas King in 1820 census or any other documents. There are too many features with the pictures of your Kings which certainly indicate a relation....Those square jaws are defiantly King features in my family as well! Thanks TomAdded by Tom King on Jun 07, 2013 3:49 PM | | | Mountain Traveler
 | RE: Brotherton/Rutherford There are coordinates on the Brotherton main page if they are correct. At this point I am just going to do nothing. Ha! I did look up a few on Ancestry while I was moving them and I recall on Wm. Brotherton I changed the birth date to November of some year and changed the name Arpy to Harpy per census records. The stones sure do need to be read in person and this cemetery is no where near me. | | | Tom King
 | Kings Hi.... Has any Male decendants done a Paternal DNA testing that you know of in Your King family tree? Im certain We are related somehow but I need 100% prof. My GGG Grandfater married Frances B Burson. She was the sister of Mary Burson who married Benjamin king b 1809 in Abbeville.SC.Added by Tom King on Jun 07, 2013 8:59 AM | | | Mountain Traveler
 | Brotherton/Rutherford Ok, all have been merged into Brotherton. Now to work on the dates. Without me going there I can't be sure, but have done some researching on dates on Ancestry already. | | | Mountain Traveler
 | Correct name is Brotherton Now that I have the correct name for this cemetery I am going to start working on this. The memorials in the Brotherton cemetery are older than those in Rutherford put there by BookGoddess, so hers will be merged into Brotherton. Some dates are not exactly the same, but from what I can see of Ken's work he did a pretty good job other than wondering what Elliot's last name is. At this time I will go with Ken's dates unless I can prove otherwise. I will have to go to the library eventually, but for now I am going to concentrate on merging these and fine tuning them later. Thanks again Sabrina. | | | Mountain Traveler
 | Duplicate cemeteries Sabrina, look at the photo for Elliot H Brotherton in the Brotherton Cemetery. Save the photo to your computer so you can zoom in on it. I am seeing that it says Elliot H Rutherford. I just want to know what you see. Thanks! | | | Mountain Traveler
 | Rutherford/Brotherton Cemeteries Sabrina! Good sleuthing! I was just looking at that Brotherton Cemetery last night and wondering about it, but you figured it out! What a mess it is!! I see that Elliot H Rutherford and a Elliot H Brotherton with the same dates! I will have to take on this project pronto and get it straightened out. First off I need to know the correct name of the cemetery, so I will call the genealogy library about it. Thanks so VERY much Sabrina! It is a real pain when you get 2 cemeteries started like this with the same people. | | | Brenda Oliver
