Bio and Links
Bio Photo I live in Newton, Iowa and will be happy to locate and photograph markers in my area.

I retired from the Air Force August 1 2009 after 26 years of service as a Master Sergeant. I am also a member of the Rapid City, South Dakota Masonic Lodge #25 and the NAJA Shriners.

Photography is my hobby/passion. I will try to fulfill as many requests as possible with quality photos. I enhance all photos to provide the best quality I can.

I trim grass covering markers and sweep off debris to enable a clear view of the marker. I photograph the entire marker as well as a close up of the name inscription. Past experience I have learned people like to see the entire marker and not just a close up of the inscription. I also photograph the back of the marker if there is any inscription on the back.

I NEVER rub chalk or other substances on markers. Chalk will DAMAGE a marker and speed the deterioration of the stone. I use a foil technique that uses aluminum foil to enhance the inscription. This technique does not damage markers and actually works better than chalk.

I can e-mail the full size photos upon request.

I worked with local cemetery in South Dakota to replace the deteriorated/worn markers of Veterans. The VA will replace government markers free. The only cost is setting if the marker is in a private cemetery. Some monument companies and cemeteries will waive their fee if you talk to them. If you are interested in helping replace worn out/deteriorated Veteran markers, please ask me about it and I will give you all the information you need.

I am interested in my family genealogy surnames of Bickle, Baker, Hoy, Kintz, Plumb, Rinard, Bladwin and several others.

RE: Eliza L. Standish
Thank you going out to take the photo of Eliza Standish's tombstone.

I also liked the tip about using aluminum foil for getting impressions for hard to read stones.

Many thanks for your help - very much appreciated :)
Lori

Would you mind transferring this memorial to me, Mrs. Charles H. Plympton 39571381. She is my step 2nd great grandmother and I have all her information and would like to update it accordingly.
