Kermit Hove

I found your name on this website as I was searching, Googling, the net in order to find information about Captain Kermit Hove (Genessee Idaho). One of the links connected me with this site.

I'm performing research on the 101st Airborne division during its saga in the ETO campaign, its so called "Rendez vous with Destiny". Not only the several units their history are of interest to me but also the personal stories of the brave men who fought and liberated Europe. One of those men was Kermit Hove who served in the 401st Glider Infantry Regiment (partly incoporated into the 327th Glider Infantry Regiment). I've been looking for a wartime photo of him but until now never succeeded. I've located some newspaper clippings in which his names appeared and they are helpful. Since you added him on this website I was wondering if you were related to him or knew more about him.

Andrew and Elizabeth Lerew
Hope Cemetery. You added a picture for Elizabeth. Was there a stone for her husband Andrew or two sons Arthur or Stuart (Steward)

Thank you

You're so welcome, Jean. I'm glad I was able to find so many for you. Makes this all worthwhile! I think I got all of the transfers done but if I've missed anyone, just let me know.

More Heimgartners
Hi Jean! Well, I found both Walter and Louise in the Resthaven Plot. Another check of the California Death Index and now I see that he did not die in Stanislaus County after all, but here in Los Angeles County. So now they are all on this site and the graves photographed and linked.

Since I was acting on your behalf, I wondered if you wanted me to transfer management of these memorials to you. You have only to ask. All I ask is that if someone who is directly descended from them asks for a transfer, that you grant it to them. If you prefer not to manage them, that is okay as well. I can add any information you want me to.

If there is anything else I can do for you here in Inglewood, just me know.

I went back and read your previous message and now I remember that Louise was in fact one of the names you were looking for, and that you are aware that Louise and Walter both died up in Stanislaus County. I don't know why Walter is not showing up on the cemetery records, but I will check again soon, since I will be there to take a photo of Louise's grave. I'll let you know what I find out.

RE: Heimgartners in Inglewood Park Cemetery
Hello Jean! I have added photos to Robert and Albertina's memorials. Their markers were not buried, after all. I was a little off on the location. Also, I found Wilhelmina and Paul Blakely's graves. They are also in the Magnolia Plot, but they are in lot 159. I photographed their graves, as well, and linked her to her parents. I have not located Walter, yet, so I'm not sure if he is buried here. He died up in Stanislaus County. I did find a Louise Heimgartner here, but I have not gone to look for her grave yet. I am thinking she must be related, perhaps Walter's wife? Because coincidentally she died in Modesto, which is in Stanislaus County. I'll try to find out more and I'll let you know.

Best regards,

RE: Heimgartners in Inglewood Park Cemetery
Hello Jean! I just wanted to let you know that I am still working on this project. I will try to get the groundskeepers to find and uncover the headstones of Robert and Albertina. They appear to buried under the sod, as I tried for an hour to find them, to no avail. This area is missing a lot of the number plugs, as well, making it difficult to know exactly where I am at!

I will report back further when I have more information.
