Note: Information about Jacob and Mary Stauffer Varnes and some of their descendants has been taken from the following family history:
THE GENEALOGY OF THE JACOB LEIGHTY FAMILY OF FAYETTE COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA by Floyd H. Leighty, Sr., Jan. 1980.
Special thanks to Julie Oliver for recording tombstone information at Bethel Christian Church, which has been used in some of the memorials.

The question of initials in proper names has recently come up. I am trying to follow the FAG guidelines of using a period after a middle initial: "Concerning punctuation in proper names, always use normal English rules, such as always use a period after a Middle Initial."

RE: Unmarked graves at Mt. Tabor
There is always a chance that the Historical Society's list of burials are more complete than those of Ellsberry's cemetery records done in 1963. I have found a couple of burials in the La Plata cemetery that were listed as not having stones that ended up having a stone after all. Hope you get a chance to check out the more recent list for burials at Mt. Tabor. Wish I had time to go to Macon myself. Just to much going on around here. Have a nice evening, Farm Girl from MO.

RE: Unmarked graves at Mt. Tabor
Always glad to be of help. Most of the unmarked graves had photo request for them so I informed the contributors requesting photos that the graves were unmarked. There are a lot of graves at Mt. Tabor that don't have stones. I have found a lot of unmarked graves in almost every cemetery in my area. Have a nice day, Farm Girl from MO.

THANK YOU so much for letting me move Caroline to Woodlawn. I usually get notified to delete instead of working through the "unknown" and fixing it--so I appreciate your kindness very much!!!! Pam

Are you sure of Joseph's death date? I have a (my)Joseph B. Morgan Born 3/18/1842 with Missouri death record of June 2, 1905 with burial in Macon County, Missouri.

oops!
Sorry for the confusion...Teresa Irene (Denny) Haugen is a different person than Tresa blacksmith. I should have been more clear.

lingo cemeteries
Thanks so much for the links! Thanks also for the offer of transfer of Tresa Blacksmith. After digging a bit deeper it seems that the name was Teresa Irene rather than Tresa. My grandmother always refered to her as Irene so I have no memory to go on. Thanks for all your effort getting the cemeteries straight!

Thank you
I appreciate you sending the links to James Shuffett. I try to list all the ones I find at the poor farm and county burials but seldom seem to get much response. They sort of become lost to the times because most, by the time their lives ended, had no family left. I keep thinking someday someone will want to know who they were.
Kind regards,
Nancy
