Please remember our veterans.
A "Veteran", whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount up to and including his or her life.
Statement made by source unknown to me.
My Uncle, December 18th 2013, Robert Pattison

My Grandson, who never even got a start......
Jerry Patrick Thomas Britton
A wife loses a husband, is called a widow.
A husband loses a wife, is called a widower.
A child loses his parents, is called an orphan.
There is no word, for a parent who loses a child.
If you don't understand that Grieving has stages and takes time, who are any of you to say how, when and where anyone else should grieve??? As each new anniversary comes around, not only will there be wonderful memories to talk about with our family and friends, but there is always the reality to the down side, grief rolls in while not always as strong as when the loss was new, sometimes it hurts even WORST. For those of you who have been through this, our hearts can understand where you are and we wish you all the sweetest peace and comfort, that God can bestow upon you and your families. For those who just don't get it...... you probably never will.
I'm sure Mom will change her profile in time, but for now this is our message:
Our mother is the Matriarch of our family. Our family roots are 225 years deep here in New York, with the main concentration in a 10 county area. Ontario, Livingston, Steuben, Wyoming, Yates, Allegany, Genesee, Wayne, Orleans and Monroe. With the main emphasis on Ontario and Livington. She is the family historian and cemetery archivist. She has 50+ years of genealogical and historical research to her credit, as well as 43+ years of archiving cemeteries. She is a life member of the "Western New York Genealogical Society" since it's inception, a Life member of the "Connecticut Society of Genealogist". She is a member of many local as well as out of state local genealogical societies. She has worked through national and international periodicals helping thousands of people in their genealogical quest.
She chose to enter memorials here to help others find the final disposition place of their forebears. Given this is the purpose of the site,
"F-I-N-D "A" G-R-A-V-E".
My mothers work meets the primary purpose set by Find A Grave and in many of them exceed it. All of her genealogical information and connections are being made at Her convenience. If she has not gotten to someone you would like connected please be patient, not everything happens in the twinkling of an eye. It has taken time to create each memorial and it will take time to color them all in. There is only one of her and thousands of you, each memorial will get its turn. Remember, she is doing this just like the rest of you, no one gets compensated for their time and efforts to help this site grow.
For you whiny people about numbers...... this site wouldn't grow much without them.
NO QUANTITY...... NO GROWTH.
THIS IS NOT A GENEALOGICAL WEB SITE.
With that said, data is entered as time permits, Mom does not live here and I'm sure none of you do as well. If you plant several hundred or even several thousand seeds on June 10th, do you really expect a full flourishing garden on June 11th???
GET A GRIP ON REALITY PEOPLE!!!
EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO CONTRIBUTE IS WELCOME HERE AND NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO TELL ANOTHER CONTRIBUTOR HOW TO MANAGE THEIR MEMORIALS. IT IS ABSOLUTELY RUDE AND DISPLAYS A SEVER LACK OF INTEGRITY ON THE PART OF THE PERSON TELLING SOMEONE ELSE WHAT TO DO.
AGAIN......GET A GRIP ON REALITY PEOPLE!!!

I was really glad to find your photos of their gravestones. THANK YOU!
But you might correct a couple of things. They were married in Dalton, Berkshire Co., Mass. Smith was born in Connecticut, probably in Killingworth, and Jerusha probably in Dalton, Mass.
They are in a "Western Massachusetts Families in 1790" sketch that will be posted at AmericanAncestors.org, hopefully in early 2014.
|The Genealogy Genie||Garrett VanSickle @ Thompson Cemetery|
Hello! I would like to thank you for posting the tributes for my distance VanSickle relatives who are buried in Cayuga County, NY. I also have a question regarding Garrett: A stone for him stands in Hunterdon County, NJ, where he supposedly died (#64164031). Do you know whether or not his remains were removed to New York after the death of his wife?
Thank you again for all of your time.

Thanks for the photo for Squire Goff. Appreciate it very much.

I would like to take over management of Isaac Carey's memorial, as he is my gg-grandfather and I have information to add and a lot of family to connect him to. My Find A Grave number is 47477455 and I appreciate all you do and any help you can give me on this.

I wonder if you could share the connection regarding Nellie Murphy to your Saxby line with me. I have tried to find members of Ms. Murphy Martin's family without success.
Thank you so much,

Are you by any chance related to William King Jr.? His parents were my 5x great grandparents. Your contributions to Find A Grave have opened up a whole new avenue for me. Please contact me at your convenience.

Just go back.....check out your messages and start transferring memorials. Easy as that! Your Mom's name will still be on them as the creator of the memorial and you would make a lot of people very happy....Simple as that! :)

Please transfer Mrs. Murphy to me as I have quite a bit of information on this person.
