Raised in Southampton, Bucks County, PA in a neighborhood called "WilloPenn" to a large Italian/Irish family, with roots that stemmed from Yeadon, Philadelphia, and Upper Darby Twp PA. (Irish heritage) and Lambertville, NJ and the Bronx NY (Italian heritage).|
Along with a love of architecture, I had an early fascination with statuary and the beauty of granite monuments. Hence: i'm quite at home in a cemetery.
Combine that with an early fascination for "Dark Shadows", a gothic melodrama on daytime TV that surrounded a NewEngland family who's estate also included an old family cemetery, and well - you can see why I got hooked.
I'm both fascinated with the history, and the familial connections you can find by reasearching one's past.
Since 1981 I've lived all over PA, and as well a short stint in NY. Currently I reside in Mt. Airy, a historic neighborhood in Northwestern Philadelphia, PA. I have friends and family all over the world, and in the following pages you'll see where some of them have found their final resting places. I'd like to think our friendship transcends our time here on Earth!

These were happening so fast and furious I think I forgot to thank you for Shirley's photo.
I have entered Mildred and requested a photo for her as well. Not sure if someone has claimed it or not!

|Elaine Moss||RE: RE:Mr. Van Ness / Vance !|
Hi Mick, Irene was his third wife. They had one son, Robert Vance, he lived in North Carolina and took care of his Mom,Irene, in her later years. We actually have a copy of a letter from him. Seems he knew all about his Dad and his doings. Ya think someone would know his real birthdate???
Someday it will be known :)

Thanks again Michael! Truly appreciate your help :)
|Elaine Moss||RE: Vance/Suber graves|
Hi Michael, I did call the office and they were most helpful but they did not have a birth date. Here is the crux of the matter: according to the birth records of the children with his first wife, he was born 1855-56 in Philadelphia.
His name was Frank Wright Van Ness.
He skipped bail in NYC and went to Chicago and changed his name to Vance (along with his first wife and 5 children). He had two more children with her in Chicago, deserted her and went back to NYC where he married Irene Subers but told Irene he was at least 7 years younger than he was.
I got a copy of his death certificate but there is no birthdate! Just an age showing that he was younger than he really was. Honestly, he would have been 8 years old when he had his first child with his first wife if the above were true!
Interestingly enough, he did know some of his children after deserting wife number one and supposedly things were fine.
Who are we to judge?
This is probably more than you wanted to know! Believe it or not, he skipped bail in NYC because he was charged with bigamy for marrying a Lila Diaz while still married to wife number one. He sure got around! It has been quite an interesting search for him!
Again, thank you for all your help.
