I just love walking through cemeteries photographing headstones as there are usually so many interesting ones. It's amazing how much information one can get from these headstones, especially the older ones. I believe in immortalizing what we can of these stones for the future and let others know that at one point in time, these people lived. |
As Findagrave states: "The goal is not to "own" every memorial of those to whom you are related. The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it.
Simply having someone in your family tree is not grounds for a management transfer request. With hundreds of thousands of contributors, we have many overlapping family trees and it would be impossible for all contributors to manage their entire tree."
Please remember to ALWAYS thank the Photo Volunteer for their time in locating your family's grave and taking the photo for you. Many people are becoming very rude in not thanking those who go out of their way to help them and many requests go unfulfilled because of it. Remember we are in this together to help each other and a simple Thank You goes a long way.
Feel free to use the photos of your loved ones resting place for your genealogy research and your personal family tree. But do NOT use it on Ancestry.com.
I WILL NOT DO ANY EDITS FROM AN EMAIL OR FROM THE MESSAGE BOARD, IT WILL BE DELETED AND THE MEMORIAL WILL NOT BE UPDATED.
PLEASE, PLEASE SEND ALL CORRECTIONS, ADDITIONS, LINKS, ETC FROM THE EDIT BUTTON (THAT IS WHY IT IS THERE) ON THE MEMORIAL. IT WILL SAVE SO MUCH TIME IN SEARCHING FOR THE CORRECT MEMORIAL AS THE NUMBERS THAT ARE TYPED IN ON EMAILS AND IN THE MESSAGE BOARD ARE NOT ALWAYS GOING TO THE CORRECT MEMORIALS.
PLEASE NOTE: I WILL ALWAYS ADD THE FINDAGRAVE CONTRIBUTOR'S NAME AND/OR ID NUMBER FOR INFORMATION SUPPLIED TO BE ADDED TO THE BIO. DUE TO MANY INSTANCES WHERE WRONG INFORMATION AND LINK REQUESTS HAS BEEN SUPPLIED THAT WERE INCORRECT, I AM THE ONE THAT RECEIVES THE NASTY MESSAGES ON HOW I POSTED THE WRONG INFORMATION. WITH THAT SAID, PLEASE REMEMBER TO INCLUDE WHERE YOU FOUND THE INFORMATION FROM (i.e.: familysearch.org, census, IDS (Illinois Death Stillbirth index), family bible, etc) so please include the information for cross reference. Thank you.

Thank you for the bio information for Mar Pearce. I have added it to her memorial.

Thanks for your time and effort in your attempt to photograph his marker. I think it would be pointless to photograph the spot, however, if you had GPS coordinates marking the spot, I would add that in.

Andrew enlisted as a private in the army at Philadelphia. He had probably just arrived in America and he was a baker, Have no idea if he saw action, but he did spend time at Fort Brook (Tampa)and mustered out as a sergeant with a claim for bounty land. Thanks again.

Thank you for including him. His grave sat unmarked for 130 years until I found out where he was buried and asked the VA for a marker. Your photo is better than the one sent to me by the nice lady at Graceland. We later found that Andrew was born around 1808 in Schwann, Württemberg, Germany. By then. the marker was already in place. He was my ancestor. Elizabeth

Could you tell me the source for your addition of
"Sherlock" to this lady? A direct descendant is inquiring of me and I do not know. Would greatly
appreciate what you can tell me. Thanks.

RE: Mary A Hunt and Ellen Hunt
Are the names located on the same Hunt head stone?
Could there be two people buried there? Possibly, Ellen Hunt, born 1844 and Mary Ann Hunt, born 1843, both sisters.
