*** MY MEMORIALS ARE NO LONGER ACCURATE: DO NOT RELY ON THEM FOR GENEALOGY RESEARCH. ***
I began removing bios from memorials when family members didn't want them there. Angry people were out-numbering happy people on findagrave. Then photos were upsetting people, so I removed them.
Auto-edits have become the straw that broke this camel's back. I had been careful about verifying suggested corrections before making changes so that my memorials would be accurate. It was easy to do years ago because most SACs included the data to support them. Changes were quick back then, but this past year most SACs are just "father is 23123", which means I need to find records that prove it's true before correcting the memorial or email the contributor that this is the wrong person.
But now there are too many corrections for me to keep up with and the computer automatically makes the edits if I take too long, so people may now be linked to the wrong parents or have the wrong names or death dates, etc. Or they may be right!
Rather than leave people with the impression that wrong information is accurate because I had a little bio there, I've removed all bios I had added to memorials.
So if you see any info not written on gravestone (birthplace, etc.) or linked memorials, do not trust the info or links without verifying them for yourself. I didn't do it and don't know if it is right.
If you are sad that my memorials are now empty, just imagine how sad I am after spending years creating them!
Legal Notice About the Photos I have added to memorials: I own the copyright to all photos and refuse permission for anyone (including ancestry.com) to use, download, save onto a server, or copy/paste these photos to any other website.
(I've left extra stuff on memorials for my own family because only my cousins would be mad at me...and that's okay.)
