Long before the computer my mother wrote letters tracing our families. It's been over 40 years since I started working on our tree/branches. Currently tracing: Blanchard, Lanham, Carson, Carter, Coleman, Ashby, Williams, Taylor, Lindsey, Bough, Allen, Bogusz, Boyd, and Grant. Now that our daughters are married, I help with the Yocom, Batchelor and Wallace trees. I've walked cemeteries in Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky. I'm a member of the Wabash Valley Genealogy Society and its' Cemetery Committee; and the Clay County Genealoigal Society. Two years ago I became a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. As a prior newspaper and a portrait photographer, I enjoy taking photographs of headstones.|
When I walk a cemetery, I will photograph every headstone in a particular area. Later when I find a memorial has already been established, I delete my photo preventing any duplication. If no memorial has ever been established, I research the person using census records, Ancestry.com, obituaries, marriage records and cemetery indexes. Usually this confirms what the headstone reflexes, and helps fill in missing information. If a memorial has been established without a photo, I will add my photo thus allowing family living elsewhere to know the condition of the headstone.
I also link family members, which allows locating other relatives easier. Remember, siblings can be linked to parents not the reverse. It's a simple procedure. If I've posted something wrong, please let me know. I'll correct any mistakes in a timely manner. I can't EDIT a memorial I've transferred, and I will transfer memorials that aren't family. Check FAG guidelines.
I realize the census and obituaries are excellent source of information, however, like anything else they contain errors. Whenever human hands are envolved, mistakes occur. I've found errors in names, dates of birth/death, and locations. If you want me to add something to a memorial from an obituary, it's MY policy not to add living relatives for privacy reasons. Please respect my preference.
As a retired Air Force Master Sergeant, I will always honor a fellow servicemen.
My daughter, grandson and I took a trip to Ohio County, Kentucky guided by my Find-A-Grave friend, Helen McKeown. Our goal was to find more family connections, and we did. We visited: Milton Taylor Cemetery, Morton Cemetery, Sunnyside Cemetery, West Providence Cemetery, Centertown Cemetery, Waltons Creek Cemetery, Carson Cemetery and Beulah Cemetery. I saw where my father went to school in Centertown, and lived. (Both are now gone). We found several Revolutionary War connections.

|Elaine Clark||JP Miller Memorial|
Dear Cliff, thank you for creating a memorial for my great grandfather John Percy JP Miller (111955593). The headstone doesn't list a month of death, and you've listed October in the info section. According to his obituary and his death certificate, he died on 4 Dec 1959. I wonder if you might update it or let me know where you found October so I can compare sources.
If you aren't a relative, I would be happy to take responsibility for the record. Either way, thanks again for your amazing findagrave work.

I will see what I can do. I took the photos upright, by findagrave.com automatically rotated them 90 degrees when I uploaded them--I guess to make them fit in their horizontal photo rectangle? I can't seem to find a way to stop that from happening. To get them to fit horizontally I may have to look into cropping them, but then I might be required to cut off the top and bottom of the headstone. I'll look into it when I have some free time.

|Renny Snell||Marion Reddie|
In respect of the posting you have made for Marion C Reddie (Find A Grave Ref 129348734), I can advise she her maiden name was Marion CURRIE, born 8 Sep 1887 in Clay Co., Indiana.
She was the daughter of William CURRIE, whose grave is also posted in Find A Grave, Ref 5339252. Her mother was Marion CURRIE nee GRAY, but these is no posting for her grave, although I suspect she is also buried in Harmony Cemetery, with husband William.
Perhaps you can update her listing, accordingly.
(I am confident this information is accurate. It arises from my research in to the Snell family of Clay Co., one of whom married Marion's brother, John D Currie).

|Ruby Angela Winter Vickers||RE: John Minear|
I am on a few genealogy groups on fb. A few months ago someone had posted the 2 pictures of a grave they found out in the middle of no where while they were bear hunting. I looked to see if someone had put up pictures of their grave to try to find out some more about the person and seen that they didn't have a picture of their grave so I asked the person who took the pictures if they would let me put those pictures up for their memorial. They agreed so I added them. I didn't even notice that they didn't have a cemetery listed but really it is out in the woods all by itself so really it doesn't have a cemetery.
If you click on the picture you will see where I gave credit to the person who took the picture and this is what I wrote: Photo credit: Pamela Otto. Location of grave is near downtown Philippi on the Old Railroad Grade Rd.
I hope this helps!

Hi Cliff! I can't seem to find the memorial you are referring to. The Find A Grave# you gave is not one that I have made nor can I find a John Minear as a memorial that I've made. Will you check it again? I will be happy to help you once I know for sure which memorial it is that you are asking about.
