Bio and Links
Bio Photo I just started researching family background in March 2010. So fun and frustrating and challenging. I am researching ancestors in Lincoln/Franklin/Copiah Counties of Mississippi -- Smith ("Nathan Smith Settlement" Smiths), Wilson, Wiltshire. Currently most stuck on trying to find any any info on Andrew Jackson Stephens, 1833-1863, died of illness after the battle Corinth, husband of Elizabeth Penelope Holland. Who were his parents/siblings?? And, like several others, I am searching for parentage and date/place of death for William Holloway Barker.

You are welcome to use any tombstone or personal photos that I have affixed -- as long as it is for strictly personal genealogical purposes (adding to Ancestry.com or Family Tree Maker family trees, for example). I am happy to transfer management of most memorials I have added, unless they are direct ancestors. Please let me know if you find an error that needs correction.

Find-a-Grave is great, and I appreciate that members have been kind enough to post photos of my ancestors and their tombstones. I hope to be able to return the favor by posting tombstone photos from the Lexington, KY area (where I currently live) and Southern and Central Mississippi (when I am able to get down there). I apologize for my sometimes less-than-stellar photographic skills.

RE: Incorrect Photo on Memorial 5431023
Debbie,

Obviously someone else removed the photo I incorrectly placed on here because I can't find it to remove it. I merely attached it from Ancestry.com and that is the information it had imbedded in the photo.

Sorry to have confused anyone.

Leslie Lyle Linton
P.S. As far as I have ever heard, Leslie was not adopted by Mamie's husband, although they did live down the block from each other in Memphis after Leslie married Mary Evelyn Powers.

RE: Leslie Linton Griffin and Robert L. Linton
Hi Debbie,
Thanks for emailing me. You do have the right person. My husband, Robert Lee Linton, born 1936 was the only son of Leslie Linton and his wife, Mary Evelyn Powers. Leslie was born October 6, 1913 in Brookhaven, MS.
Nobody seems to know the story of Mamie Coleman, or how or why she got to Arkansas with her new husband.

Willie died September 29, 1933 in Melville, Louisiana, of heat stroke. He seems to have been married, or lived with a woman named Maggie May Crenshaw and worked and lived at a place called Swayze Lake but we couldn't find any further record of his wife, nor any children if they had any. We could not find a grave for him. We traveled to Louisiana from Georgia where we live, in search of records but that was all we found.

My husband, Robert, passed away in 2008 and is buried in Horn Lake, Mississippi, close to his mother and father in Hinds Chapel Cemetery.

If you would like to email directly, my email is Blinton@tds.net.
So good to hear from you.

RE: Margaret/Maggie Gallman Atwood
I'm sorry I haven't gotten in touch with you sooner. I just saw your message. I will have to look at the records that I have on hand. I am not directly related to Ms. Maggie but she is a distant cousin of mine. You know the Atwood family is bigger than anyone could imagine. Especially the Mississippi/Louisiana Atwood's.
