"Show me the manner in which a nation or a community cares for its dead and I will measure with mathematical exactness the tender sympathies of its people, their respect for the laws of the land and their loyalty to high ideals." Gladstone.

IF YOU WANT ME TO TRANSFER SOMEONE TO YOU JUST LET ME KNOW, IF I AM NOT RELATED OR IF IT'S NOT MINE OR MY HUSBAND'S DIRECT LINE, I WILL TRANSFER THAT PERSON TO YOU - I DON'T CARE HOW YOU ARE RELATED - I believe that if a person has more to add, if a person was a good friend, if this memorial can get more attention than I can give it then so be it...please don't hesitate to ask.

Hello! My name is Christina (Atkinson) Watts. Taking photos of Memorials has become my new found hobby, along with genealogy! All photos I have submitted are not my relatives, I simply would love to know that I am helping someone else to see their loved ones memorial. I am a VERY proud Army wife of 10yrs. We are currently stationed here at Fort Eustis VA. I am originally from Roland Oklahoma, born in Fort Smith Arkansas. I am also a very busy mommy of four..ages 7, 4, 2, and 1.

To err is human and I am only human. If you find a mistake kindly let me know and I will change it. If I have placed your relative on here and you want them removed, kindly let me know that also.

I will do my best to do lookups but I am very busy with my children. I usually plan a weekend to go to a specific cemetery and take as many pictures as possible.

I have been to:
Saint Luke's Smithfield Isle of Wight Co VA (have added all pics I have for this cemetery)
Ivy Hill Smithfield Isle of Wight Co VA (in the process of cropping many pics for this cemetery)
Greenlawn Memorial Park Newport News VA (will add many photos in the next month) Saint Marys Catholic Cemetery Norfolk VA (have already added many photos, will be adding many more shortly) Grafton Christian Church Cemetery Grafton, York Co VA

My family names that I am currently researching are:

From my paternal line - Atkinson, Brasel, Flood/Flud, Burdine, Gilmore, Peoples, Reddell, Carter, Looper, Carey, Hodges, and Bozarth

From my maternal line - Iske, Haddon, Christensen, Davis, Olds, Hoagland, Knauss

My husbands side of the tree - Watts, Thornhill, Powell, Lane and Cross

Change J M Cross's name
Your memorial for James Mack Cross is incorrect namewise.
He is Jiley Mack Cross.
His tombstone reads J M Cross.
Can you change it?
Thanks, Susan

Transfer Ammons please
Hi, if it's possible could you transfer these two memorials to me.
Find A Grave Memorial # 39115132 Dorothy D E BRIGHT AMMONS
Find A Grave Memorial # 39115558 John Dorriss Ammons

They are a direct line. I'd like to coordinate and link the various family together. If not, i'll figure how to get the info to you if you don't mind. Sorry i need to post; new computer and don't know how to configure for sending via this site.
thanks in advance.

Christian Iske
I was so happy to see the photo of Christian Iske. Do you happen to know if there are any photos of his wife, Sophia Hartwig Iske? I would love to have any information you can offer on them. Thank you.

Looper Family Research

My 3rd Great Grandfather was named Eli Looper (1810 - 1880). He was born in North Carolina, but I have not been able to determine exactly where.

The earliest census record that I am comfortable attributing to Eli is from 1860 when he and his wife Paulina lived in Wilkes County, North Carolina.

There is an 1850 Census record for Eli Looper that places him in a house hold with a Joseph Looper and a Selina Looper (who I think may actually be Paulina).

This census record is from Alexander North Carolina where many of your Looper descendants are from. I am curious if an Eli Looper has come up in any of your research? I am hoping to be able to determine where the Loopers immigrated from.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Anna Knauss Clewell
Thank you for sending the links for Anna. Apparently we are distant cousins through my husband (this would be his 3rd great grandmother)! I've always wondered about the correctness of Anna's middle name Johanna --- would you know more? Thanks!

Hicklin C. Powell
Hardy G. Powell is my ggg-grandfather. His son was Hicklin C. Powell. His daughter was Verna Powell. I am trying to find where Hicklin is buried. I know he died Feb.10, 1960 in Baldwin Co., but his residence was in Bainbridge. I am guessing he died in a nursing home or maybe one of his children's homes. So I thought maybe he was buried the same place as Hardy, but I figured you would have taken a picture if he was actually there. Do you know this name from your research? He is sometimes listed as Hick, Hicks, Hickland, or Hicklin A. If you stumble across his gravesite, please let me know!

Thanks,
Christi
