This is a poem that I stumbled upon (author unknown):
Always a silent hurt,
many a silent tear,
but always a beautiful memory
of one we loved so dear.
God gave us strength to bear it,
and courage to take the blow,
but what it meant to lose you
...no one will ever know.
I was born and raised in Norfolk, VA. I've lived in FL, NY, CA, WA, and OR. I was married to my best friend in San Diego over 39 years ago. We now live in the beautiful great Northwest. We have four wonderful children and we've been blessed with ten grandchildren.
I found Find A Grave by accident. It has become one of my favorite sites to visit. It has given me a place that I can remember my mother and my sister Sandy and honor their memory right from my desk. Thank you Find A Grave.

Strangers in the Box
By Pamela A. Harazim
Come, look with me inside this drawer,
In this box I've often seen,
At the pictures, black and white,
Faces proud, still, serene.
I wish I knew the people,
These strangers in the box,
Their names and all their memories
Are lost among my socks.
I wonder what their lives were like.
How did they spend their days?
What about their special times?
I'll never know their ways.
If only someone had taken time
To tell who, what, where, when,
These faces of my heritage
Would come to life again.
Could this become the fate
Of the pictures we take today?
The faces and the memories
Someday to be tossed away?
Make time to save your pictures,
Seize the opportunity when it knocks,
Or someday you and yours could be
The strangers in the box.
"If you could see your ancestors
All standing in a row,
There might be some of them, perhaps,
You wouldn't want to know.
But, here's another question, which
Requires another view,
If you could meet your ancestors,
Would they be proud of you?"

Thank you so much for leaving a note on my sisters memorial. It really touched my heart. It was a sad time in my life as a child.

We are currently working to identify anyone buried in Westlawn-Hillcrest Cemetery Omaha NE that has served in the military. If you have a loved one buried there or know of someone, please send us a message. We place flags on the graves for Memorial Day. This project is sponsored by Centennial Masonic Lodge #326.
If you can send us the names, we will be sure to include them on our list to get a flag.
Thank you for the help with this ongoing project.
If you have already received this message, please accept our apologies for the duplicate message.

I see Christian and Mary Shockey are your wife's 5th great grandparents. They are my 5th ggparents as well, descended through their daughter, Nancy Shockey Shultz. Her son, Alexander Shultz, moved to Hutchinson, KS, which is where I grew up. Most of my ancestors from that line stayed in the Hutchinson area. Please tell your wife hello from her long lost cousin! :-)

Just curious how my memorial to Nathaniel Adams has been deleted and all my notes and picture have appeared on your Nathaniel Addams memorial #38221663?
Regards, Dave Heindel (dsheindel)
