Family history exploration for me begins with Ottawa Co, Kansas, but of course led across the country. An inheritor of several generations of newspaper clippings, I started transcribing obits from microfilm beginning at the 1879 start of the paper and realized the value of reading them all in understanding my family's history in the region. A sort of 'community-based genealogy' habit grew and expanded, as did an interest in cemetery preservation and recording. |
Living now in a rural Kentucky county, our local history goal is to locate the old family cemeteries up in the hills, photograph and record. Most are hidden and overgrown; some remarkably well looked after by landowners whether related or not. And several are out there yet to be found...
Am happy to transfer your relatives and happy to help in the hunt for them.

Just a fyi note.
S. N. Case findagrave memorial #66109263. His full name was Silas Newton Case.
His first wife was: Almera Case, findagrave memorial #66108673. Her name was Almer Elizabeth Overstreet, daughter of Thomas Bonaparte Overstreet and Sarah Jane Baker.
His second wife was Sarah E. Case, findagrave memorial #66109140. Her name was Sarah Elizabeth Hardwicke/Hardwick. I have seen two different spellings of her name on ancestry.com.
There needs to be a way to link all of them.

Re: Francis Marion Morris Find A Grave Memoriaol #66137288.
He was married twice. First to Delia Estell Overstreet. Her children were Sara, Herbert, Oma and Ermin Morris. Francis's second wife was Delia's sister, Anna Belle Overstreet.
We know where Anna Belle and Francis Marion are buried. I am looking for Delia's gravesite. Can you help?
And, thank you for catching the error on my grandmother's birthdate, Oma Morris, who was married to Wiltshire Cardwell Sale and then to my grandfather, Floyd Arthur Guinn.

Are you related to the Keener or Marler families in Ottawa County.? If so, may I ask How?
I am familiar with the hill side cemeteries in Letcher County Kentucky and Wise, Dickenson County, Virginia. Done work on the Cantrell and Hubbard family in that area. Also the Powers, Meade and Boggs.

Sorry, I got ahead of myself & deleted that memorial before you had a chance to view it.
|Kevin Titus||Photo enhancement|
I have seen some of your photos you have enhanced. It is very impressive as in the cemetery I could not read the headstone at all and it was as clear as day on your photo. I was wondering if you could assist me in enhancing the photo of #131777876, D. Davis in Rockford cemetery in Lost Creek, WV. I believe this may be one of my lost grandmothers. If you need me to send the photo to your email address just let me know. Thanks!

Caveat: Though Independence was settled by 1826, it was not incorporated until 29 Mar 1827. For sticklers, (nit-pickers?), like myself, that means place of birth is not exact. The memorial I created is #101882757.
|Darrel Salisbury||Mem. Susan Smith Nelson|
I created a memorial for Susan, 2d w/o James Benjamin Sage, based on info I had. James was b/o my maternal ancestor, Anna E. SAGE Tharp. The 1860 census, for what it's worth, says James wife, S, was b. TN. Other info, I'd have to look it up, says she was b. 7 Feb 1826, Independence, Jackson, MO.
James & Susan were in Sugar Creek Twp, Lykens (now Miami, KS Terr., 3 Sep 1860.
