RE: The Horsfall's
HI Daisy, I wish I knew where they were actually buried. I am hunting that down now. I added them without the burial info so that I could connect the sisters. There are several brothers I am looking for as well. Esther and John were married in England, so I'm not sure if her entire family came to NZ or not. Thanks for linking them. Hopefully I'll be able to update that sometime.

Thanks again for your help and your kind comments. Yes, Margaret Rice is one of ours, although right now I can't tell you exactly how.

I started researching the family genealogy about 15 years ago, but haven't touched it for 5-7 years due to insufficient time more than anything.

Right now, I'm just starting to add family names to the website, but I'm resisting the urge to do a GEDCOM upload and I'm rechecking all my data as I go. So it will be a long and slow process, but hopefully the results will be worthwhile in the end.

I will have to look out for Johnsonville Yesterday. I haven't seen it, so thanks for the heads up.

Hi Daisy

I really appreciate the prompt response, so thanks. The babe I'm interested in is Alfred Ernest Sim. There's a death notice in the Evening Post of 17 Dec 1907:

SIM.-On the 17th December, at Johnsonville, after a short illness, Alfred Ernest, dearly beloved infant son of Herbert and Mary Sim, aged 7 months.

That's all I've been able to find.

I appreciate the offer, but I do also have access to Ancestry which has a link through to Find A Grave, but precious little else.

I had a crack at editing the record to also include his date of birth, which is 3 May 1907 according to the DIA BDM website.

Kind regards,

Great job with the entries for this closed cemetery.

Do you still have access to the records? If so, are burial dates recorded (as separate from death dates)?

RE: Guildford
6109/1859 GUILFORD FRANCIS H (his parents names ) JAMES and REBECCA (place) BROULEE - this is his NSW birth registration

James Guilford was Frank's father: Bapt:6 Aug 1820 Collegiate Church, Manchester, Lancashire son of Joseph and Ann Guilford; Occ: Blacksmith, Fellmonger; Died: 15 Nov 1882 in Wellington Hospital,
James Married: 28 Feb 1841 in St Mary, Prestwich, Lancashire England to Rebecca Lingard Born: 1821 in Manchester, Lancashire, England; Baptism: 26 Aug. 1821 Manchester Cathedral; she Died: 09 Jul 1896 in Wellington Burial: 11 Jul 1896 Bolton St C of E Plot 3106 Grid D1201

They had 9 children - Frank was their 7th child:

Francis Henry Guilford; Born: 1859 in Broulee, NSW Australia; Occ: hide salter, currier Johnsonville; Died: 08 Feb 1920 in Wellington; Burial: Johnsonville , St Johns Anglican Church. He mar: 1879 in Wellington to Frances Hall Born: Abt. 1857 in Middlesex, England; She Died: 30 Sep 1920 in Hospital, Wellington; Burial: 01 Oct 1920 Karori Cemetery, Wgtn - they had no family

The only reason I elieve accounts for the disparity of death dates is the fact that often the informant assisting the undertaker with his paperwork is not an immediate family member and make errors

Hello Daisy, Thank you very much, for taking the above photo, so wonderful for those of us who it may not be possible to travel to various graveyards throughout New Zealand. Apologies if I have sent this thank you before, however thanking you twice is worth it.
