I am a professional photographer and genealogist (over 50 years), and long time historian of Coleman County, Texas (over 40 years). Over 20 years ago, I, along with my wife, Judia, and Vena Bob Gates, published all of the marked grave inscriptions in Coleman County, Texas in the 3 volume, "Coleman County Cemetery Inscriptions." I also have these records online at www.colemanhistory.com.|
Judia and I both continue to visit cemeteries, but I do all the computer work. Judia is an artist and does not relate to computers ... she is soooo lucky!
I have welcomed FindAGrave to help carry on what myself, my wife and others are doing to keep local history information available and not forgotten. I began in the middle of March 2011 adding burials that have not been added for Coleman County.
I look forward to hearing from anyone interested in the cemeteries and history of Coleman County. Ralph Terry, Coleman, Texas.

Thanks for the photos, sorry I left one off, will resend another request, next time you go there can you fill?
|Terry Foenander||George Edward Critz.|
You show Critz as being captured at Vicksburg on April, 1963, when in fact, it was July 4, 1863. His compiled military service records also show that he was transferred to the Confederate Navy on February 24, 1864.
Hope this helps.
|Bob Wilson||Griffith Clan|
I had corresponded with you several years ago concerning the family of Jasper Newton Griffith (# 72513213); his daughter Elizabeth (# 72234983) was my wife's grandmother. You were very helpful at that time, and we were able to identify a total of 11 children for Newt and his wife Lizzie (Butler) (# 65680279). Nine of the eleven are now on Find a Grave; all of these are linked to Lizzie and all but one are linked to Newt (the other one is requested).
My current task is to try to locate the other two children, both of whom died in early childhood: "Tryaniner" and Liddiebell. The former is said to have been born on 5 Sept 1900 and died in 1904, both in Taylor County. The latter shows b. 4 Jan 1905 (Taylor Co.) and d. 1909 (Coleman Co.). I feel there is a problem with the name of the first (presumably) girl; that name is just too weird. I just read a DC from one of the local counties which lists the mother's birthplace as "N. Dacoter" or something similar, and it has me wondering if the name in question actually ended with an "a" instead of an "er".
In any event, I was hoping that your familiarity with both the Griffith clan and the cemeteries of Coleman Co. might give you some insight at least to the final resting place of Liddiebell. Neither of them showed up in a search of the various Texas death records available at FamilySearch, but there are numerous possible explanations for that.
Thanks in advance for any pointers or insight that you might have on this, and have a fantastic weekend!

I will be happy when it warms up a bit so I can get out there and get more pictures.
|Little Calamity||RE: Ola Thomas|
Y'know, I was really impressed with the picture of Ola and the scanned obituary, and I added a note on my Leavell webpage for people to go there to see them, and then I sent you that request! I'd been sitting at my laptop doing Leavell findagrave connections all day, and I guess by then my brain went dead. Sorry. You'll probably get more from me, but I'm near the end of the 1600 or so Leavells, so this harassment will stop soon!
Ralph, This is the son of George W. Elam 41867321 and Martha Howard Elam 87184557. another uncle of mine.
|David Forcade||Regarding William Holmes|
Thank you so much for linking William to his father, William Kendrick Holmes. His middle name, Woodson, was given him after his mother's father's name, Woodson Blassingame. His mother being Frances Blassingame.
Again, my thanks and God Bless...
