Bio Photo ***** If you have emailed me and have not heard back, please email me again. I never thought this would happen, but I am getting swamped with emails from FAG and ancestry.com, and I may have mistakenly missed a few emails. *****

I will gladly transfer memorials to family, no matter the lineage, as well as to friends. :-) Any photo I take is yours. :-)

I have always been drawn to old cemeteries where I read and touch headstones as my way of remembering those who have passed on.

I am forever grateful to the following FAG members:

Janie #47619161, who located numerous documents for me about my great grandmother who died in 1912 and started my family tree on ancestry.com, giving me an incredible jump start on my ancestral research.

Clint Black #47536687, who was instrumental in helping me learn about my Wyoming ancestors from back when Cheyenne was still a territory.

Van Bender #47533106, who brilliantly took photos of all the damaged crypts at Saint Bernard Memorial Gardens after Hurricane Katrina. Without him I would have never known where my dear friend Dianne Agnes Bird May lays peacefully after a horrific death.

Dee #48005787, who went to an incredible amount of work to locate the gravesite of Hung Anh Truong #96905085 in order to be able to photograph his headstone. Hung, a Vietnamese teenager, is considered to be one of the first hate-crime victims in Houston, TX.

Judy H #46977685 who has filled over 30 of my photo requests in Milwaukee, and has even created memorials with photos of my family that I did not realize were buried in Milwaukee, and then transferred the memorials to me. Judy's work provided me with many dates of birth and death I was not able to find on my own.

And those who have transferred memorials of my ancestors to me, filled photo requests for me, and have taken their time to help me along the way.

I have had the privilege of documenting an old forgotten Jewish cemetery in Hallettsville, Texas, that is in deplorable condition, and over 150 graves in a Historic Black cemetery in Colorado County, Texas.

RE: George H Samuel
The only reason I questioned it was that in his wife's sister's, Dorothy Beverly Samuel (Find A Grave 143294310), orbituary it says the following:

"She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bernard F Samuel, and her sister Carolyn Samuel Samuels."

It stuck with me because it was a Samuel who married a Samuels. How confusing!

Anyway, I'm sure you are right. A lot of people changed the spelling of their last names. I find it crazy at times. Thanks for your help!

RE: Fanny Schwartz #106027458
Hi Maurene,

Thank you for the transfer of Fanny's memorial. I did notice that there were many other potentially related persons in that cemetery and I appreciate your willingness both to transfer memorials and your offer to take photos.

Is the newer Hallettsville Jewish Cemetery a separate cemetery listing on FindAGrave or are both cemeteries included as one listing? I searched but did not find the newer Hallettsville Jewish Cemetery.

I sympathize with you in your dismay over your research results. I can only imagine how distressing those discoveries must be!

To answer your question, I am in Louisiana, but with family roots in both states. You mentioned the orphanage; my grandfather and his siblings grew up in that orphanage!

Kind Regards,
Sharon

RE: Fanny Schwartz #106027458
Hi Maureen,

Tnank you for your kind reply. I am not really related to Fanny; she's a "collateral" person in my tree. If you want to transfer her to me, that's fine ... or if you choose to keep her, that's OK too. I did send you a 2nd edit that you apparently overlooked ... to add her maiden name.

Thanks,
Sharon

RE: Joseph M Freeman #36899205
Hello Maurene,

I always write down the birth and death dates as I'm photographing, and you are correct - the date of birth for Joseph Freeman is November 11, 1849. You are more than welcome to use the photo anyway you wish!

Have a great weekend,

LLH
