Bio and Links
Bio Photo My name is Roy R Adkins and Hallie [Lowe] Adkins was my mother.I started this because so many family members were not being remembered from the past. Somtimes were to busy living our own lifes when we should have been listening with better ears. So this is for the people who have forgotten or to old to remember.
My father died 3 months before I found him. I remember one weekend when I was about 8 years old, that we were cleaning the house and my mother had run across this box. I had seen it before but never really paid much attention to it. Mom said it belonged to her real mother Sylvia and it was full of family pictures that I hadn't ever seen. It would come to be known as the Elswick box. It was old and dusty and better than a hundred years old I thought as she opened it. When she opened the old box it smelled musty and damp inside and I was in awe. Who is that lady? Who is that man? Where was that picture taken, as she allowed me to be inquisitive. When she started explaining whom these people where and how they fit into all of our lives. I listened in amazement as she proceeded. She started telling us the story's about her father and his father and his father. Her real mother and where they came from how her parents met. Why her and her brothers had to be put in an orphanage in this place called Homesville Ohio. And then she had held four pictures in her hand. She then laid them in front of us and said," these are the only pictures I have of your father!" My father I asked? The reply was yes. His name was Millard Musco Adkins and his father was Dewey Woodrow Adkins. I now had more questions? She did her best to answer all of them in a very pleasant and understanding way. How was I ever going to remember all of this I thought to my self.

Do you know where the Ward Lucas Cemetery, Logan County, is? Ethel Justice is buried there. She is the daughter of 34580336 and 34580282 that you have posted. I have her obit and was trying to add her to Find A Grave but now for sure if the Lucas Cemetery on here is the same as the Ward Lucas cemetery of her obit. Waiting to hear from you.

RE: Bethel Cemetery
I added the picture of the headstone. We had found it a couple of years ago while we were down for the Adkins Reunion. William and Elizabeth are my 2nd Great Grandparents. William/Clarence/Carl/Gregory/Me. Sarah Gertrude Crabtree was my 1st Great Grandmother.

Thanks
Craig Adkins

Richard P. R. Elswick
Hello, I am doing family research and am very interested in the Elswick line. Do you know if Richard was Native American (Cherokee)? I am trying to prove an old family story about my Great Grandmother Nellie Palmer being Cherokee, and she was Richard's granddaughter. Any info you have would be so helpful. Thank you!

Betsy Adkins Sumner
Thank you for posting the childhood pictures of my Auny, Betsy Sumner. Correction should be noted: her husband was Sidney A. Sumner - it is listed as Brian Sumner on the site. Brian is one of her 4 children. Sid was my father's youngest brother. They were divorced at the time of her death in 1966. Her daughter, Cydney Rae Sumner died at the age of 40 in Arizona, her 3 sons (Michael, Brian and Phillip) all live in Georgia. Betsy was dearly loved and her death at the age of 34 was a tragedy that horribly impacted my life and the lives of her children. May she rest in peace.
