Everyone dies. Some leave in great fanfare, while others may not even be mentioned in the obituary section of their local newspaper. Every death has a life behind it, a story, a history. Somehow, visiting a grave, while not telling a story, produces a feeling. You can feel history. Seeing the grave, the actual resting place of the dead, makes the life real and not just a story.
In the case of cemeteries, they are all different, all with a personality of their own. This may be just a matter of who is buried in a particular cemetery, or how they were buried. What creates a cemetery's personality is uncertain, but it is there. (By Laurie Bissell San Diego History Center Staff Member)

 | Aleen Manucy Smith Thanks so much for the transfer! | | | Larry K
 | Charles Wahl Thank you for the note on the dupe. I have no connection to Charles, and don't have any additional info that the other person hasn't covered. The memorial arose from a project transcribing the 1964 obits. So let's do it the easiest way, and I'll just delete my memorial as the dupe. Perhaps they found him thru the original memorial.
Cheers, and happy graving, LarryAdded by Larry K on May 18, 2013 8:54 PM | | | Leonard J. McCown
