I am a White County, Georgia resident since 1994.|
I research my large family on a regular basis. Some of the names are: Bruce, of course; Bell; Davis; Childress; Vaught; Kirby; Sneed; Perkins; Hardeman, Hardiman; Hairston; Holsonback (we have found over 95 different ways to spell this name); Wisdom, of the John Henry Wisdom that saved Rome, , Floyd Co., Georgia from being destroyed (he is in the history books); Otwell, Ottwell, Ottawell, Hulsey, Halsey, Hulcy, King, Hicks, McKelvey, Campbell and many more.
Heritage: Robert the Bruce DNA proven; Charlemagne Kingdom from my Kirby and Hulsey lines.
Cherokee Indian and African American
Love, Love Horse's, Tennessee Walker's. The Bruce family have always liked racking horse's, so I was turned on to this breed by my Uncle Joe Hunt and my Aunt Pearl Bruce Hunt. Back then Uncle Joe would call them "Single Foot".
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you.
DEATH LEAVES A HEARTACHE THAT NO MAN CAN HEAL
DEATH LEAVES A MEMORY THAT NO MAN CAN STEAL
No matter if you are my 3rd, 5th or 7th cousin etc.. I still regard you as family and I would love to have you in my family line and get together's ...

They are not buried in a wall. The gravesite takes up the equivilent of 8 plots, but is probably owned by a beneolvent society. Judging from the obituary and how he died, I would think there was little money available for a burial, and likely some outside group funded the burial.
The area where his plot is located is surrounded by beneolvent, fraternal and/or societial organizations. It is indeed sad.

I always provide a copy of a stone when one is available, however there is no stone. There are 53 people buried there, and only 4 names on any stones.
Please note that the spelling on the below list comes from cemetery records and there may be mis-spellings.

I'm sorry, but I have no information on your family. I would sometimes pick a name or a cemetery at random and leave some tributes or flowers.
You might try to contact the people who run this website. They might have suggestions for you to find out more about your family (Ancestry.com, etc...)

I don't think I'm familiar with your direct line. I searched my files for your grandmother after your last reply but don't seem to have her. I searched your memorials and found her parents but still not locating them in my files. The majority of my research has been on the lines of Charles (1791) and Jennings because they married sisters and I descend from the Hulsey & Pate lines. I've researched the other earlier lines some but not as much. You said you are 4th cousins with my gg-gfather. What is your earlier line?
I think it's interesting to note that your great grandparents were a Hulsey - Waldrep marriage. My grandparents were a Hulsey - Waldrop marriage.
My earliest proven is Matthew Waldrop b. abt 1772 SC, died around 1860 in Haralson Co GA. He can be found in Laurens Co SC, Spartanburg Co SC, Putnam Co GA, Henry Co GA, and Carroll Co GA. His father is believed to be one of the many James... the one who received a land grant of 100 acres on the south side (Laurens Co SC side) of the Enoree River in 1772. This James is believed to be a son of Michael Waldrop Jr of Spartanburg Co.

I see your tokens on many of the Hulsey memorials including the one you left for my great grandfather in 2012. I've added a bio that includes links to many relatives. Please visit again! His memorial # is 30563631.
