Bio Photo IMPORTANT NOTICE: Over the years I have left hundreds of memorial notes on Confederate veteran's FindAGrave memorial pages, using a particular Confederate Flag as a symbol. Recently I discovered that flag had been replaced with flowers. If you see one of my memorial messages left on a memorial page with flowers instead of the flag, please notify me so that I can make the appropriate changes.

Sons of Confederate Veterans Compatriot - Camp No. 1921 - The Tallassee Armory Guards.

Please feel free to use/share photographs and other historical information I've posted to memorials.

The Chattahoochee Valley Historical Society has endorsed FindAGrave and as a member of that society I have visited many cemeteries and added graves/memorials on its behalf.

I manage several hundred memorials in Chambers County, AL that Hank Rogers transferred over to me before he became inactive with F.A.G.

Also, most of the very old newspaper items on my memorials are through the courtesy of F.A.G. Member #47182102 who has painstakingly transcribed volumes of "The LaFayette Sun", the official newspaper of Chambers County, Alabama.

Old Sharon (or Sharon) Church
Good Morning Don, would you happen to have or know where I can find any church records for "Old Sharon" Church in Tallapoosa County? Norman has a Satterwhite that married a Hicks that is buried in that cemetery and he is working on a little bio on the cemetery for Tap Roots? Just thought I would ask you because you are our "Church" reference locally. Thanks so much, Pam Smith

RE: William Graggs
I went back into my old notes for this fellow and found that the "P" as a middle initial came from a WorldConnect Gedcom Project submission! It, of course, gives no documentation to prove it. The Alabama Land Grant records show a William RICHARDS Gragg registering lands in Chambers County, but there is no way to know if this is MY ancestor or who exactly it is. So, the mystery continues.

His only son by his first wife, Joseph POST Graggs, my ancestor who later changed his name to Griggs, had the middle initial "P". His oldest son by his second wife was William P. Graggs, but so far I haven't seen him referred to as "Jr." in any records. So, for now, we'll just have to let it go until something concrete shows up.

Thanks,

Carolyn

Yes it is very confusing. I'm related through the McCoys. Her mother is my 3rd great grand aunt which makes Martha my 1st cousin 4x removed. So a bit of a distant relation.

RE: John & Annie Copeland Quimbley
Sent her obit to you. But I am sure she is buried by John. They were in a circle in the middle of that huge cemetery.

Patton Alexander Wise
I was looking for a grave marker for this man, and didn't find one anywhere. Further digging through his history found that he is reported to have committed suicide, so I suspect he was buried perhaps on family property. Do you know if there are any grave markers on the old Wise family property that we discussed before? Barring that, can you give me the address to the old house, I might be able to visit and look sometime.

Thank you very much for her obituary, which confirms her burial in Piney Grove Cemetery. I have posted it as requested and moved her memorial to that burial location. This helps greatly with my family records. Thank you again!

Don - Thank you
I received a rejection on the parents and I must have thought it was for Mary Chafin and that you maintained the memorial. Thanks for your patience, I am old and senile now (almost 65) and don't see or hear as well as I once did. Sorry, if I had the wrong suspect (another Find A Grave contributor and another memorial most likely).

I appreciate all you do to help keep all the memorials that you updated properly. Pam
