Thanks to all Findagrave staff, volunteers, friends and family who have made this site worthy of praise and thanksgiving.|
"We can't resist this rifling around in the past, sifting the untrustworthy evidence, linking stray names and questionable dates and anecdotes together, hanging on to threads, insisting on being joined to dead people and therefore to life."

Thank you very much for your work on McGee Cemetery.
I haven't been there since the 1980's. There is much more to it than I remember. (I live 850 +/- miles from it.)
My first visit was when I was 6 for the burial of my great grandmother "Bennie" Buckley McGee.
Grandmother had more children than the three listed with her page. Is the list limited to those buried in this cemetery?

You are welcome, sorry about the quality of the photos, some of the grave markers were in pretty bad shape. Steve

You are very welcome!

Thank you for your suggestion on Gus/Angus Ray's name. I wondered about this when I saw the grave. It looks as if someone manually scraped in the letter N before the name Angus, but there is no A. Possibly a family member was attempting a correction... Not really sure. I think I will change it to Angus since that's what the record states. Thanks!

Thank you Linda for all of your help over the last couple years! Saying census records leave a lot to be desired is certainly an understatement! I have found so many errors while working on my family tree and looking through the records. This site has been a great help for me in trying to unravel some of the many errors that I have made on my own tree and hope that my efforts here have helped as many people as possible as they work on their trees.

Hi Linda, the records at Old City reflect that she was Frank's wife, but the census records you have looks like she was his daughter. I posted a memorial for her, but did not link her as Frank's wife. Any ideas?
well guess what? after i messaged you, i got a message from a descendant of nancy candy. seems that last year she and her husband erected a marker for nancy on top of the unmarked slab. i had no idea of that when input the photo request. she sent me a photo of it and i have asked her for permission to post it on the find a grave memorial i set up. i still hope to get a copy of the page in the cemetery book (i have the contact info for the library) and the information on the authors of it as i would like to clarify the information on her parents. not your problem. thanks for all your help in straightening out the confusion on the marker. also, thanks for the work you do in photographing headstones. so many of us have to do our research on line and it is such a tremendous gift when others such as yourself take photos of our relatives headstones.

Many, many thanks for the pictures! I'm working on my family tree while living in Africa... that can be difficult.

Thank-you. The inscription is on the opposite side of the stone, and have a genealogist working on it now. I will have them also check the other two stones of the children next to John Preston, Ann and David.
