Death comes once, but a cemetery is forever
Phillip M. O'Shea

The quality, not the longevity, of one's life is what is important. --Dr. Martin Luther King Jr

Please feel free to contact me about any graves I have listed. If I have listed someone that you are related to and I am not and you would like them transferred to you, please just let me know. If we are both related then I will have to think about it. Please feel free to use any of my photo's anywhere you want.

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
(rev 21:4)

"Dear Ancestor
Your tombstone stands among the rest;
Neglected and alone.
The name and the date are chiseled out
On polished, marbled stone.
It reaches out to all who cares
It is too late to mourn.
You did not know that I exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
In flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
Entirely not our own.

Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
One hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
Who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
And come to visit you."

A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don't worry about falls
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes we're together again.

William Harkness
I'm sorry, I should explain, his son's name is William Thomas Harkness. Thomas is the name of William Sr. father in-law. William Jr. is most likely named after his grandfather.

William Harkness

I've sent an edit asking for Thomas to be removed as a middle name for William Harkness. He had a child named Thomas. Family researchers have not found records that include Thomas as a middle name.

Jeremiah Burnett - photo request

FYI. There is no "Princeton" Cemetery. So your photo request can't be fulfilled. I recently passed through the area and as Jeremiah is my husband's 2nd Great Grandfather, was going to try to find the grave. More research needed to see if a county records might give a clue, but I do not live near Princeton, WV.

Dye family (Charles William Dye Cemetery)
Hello Barbara,
I was in Virginia visiting relatives recently and photographed the graves on their property. I just loaded the photos to this site, and I noticed you left memorials. I thought you may be interested to see the photos on the site.

RE: Garrison
You bet - I took some area views of the Garrison area, which I will send to your e-mail. I need to add identifications on the photos, so it may be a day or two.

We will try another photo the next time we are in Fincastle. It should be within the next month or two.

RE: Urbana Cemetery
Urbana is not real close to my place. I get there every so often and am aware of the list - I'll work it when I can if someone doesn't get there first. G

The photo request was sometime ago, I believe. I have since been to the grave site and found a stone.
