I was born in Vaiden, MS, on Dec. 31, 1954 to Alf Trotter Collins and Juanita Hambrick Collins.|
I lived in Vaiden, MS until 1979, Winona, MS until 1981, when I moved to Jackson, MS. In 1990, I moved to Florence, MS, where I still reside.
I have two wonderful sons, Sean and Cody, and I worked as a Level 2 Computer Field Technician for AmSouth Bank, In-House Technician for Trustmark Bank and Field Technician for CompuCom servicing 10 Lowe's stores in Mississippi.
I have an A.A. Degree in Pre-Law; a B.S. Degree in History with a Minor in English; and a Master of Social Sciences with an emphasis in History.
I have written and maintain 240+ web pages, including listings of the burials in the Vaiden Mississippi Cemetery (White) and the Vaiden Community Cemetery (African-American).
So far, my family history has been traced back to my 14th Generation Grandfather, John Collins I, who was the keeper of the Gael (prison) for King Charles I of England (son of James I - of the King James Bible fame). Other relatives include another King (Elvis).
Other hobbies include motorcycles, making music as a drummer, historical research, adding entries to Find-a-Grave (since 08/12/2000), and watching and collecting DVDs.

Sorry I missed you Monday if you were at the MDAH. I learned that they have death certificates from 1912 - 1942 and an easy process for finding what I needed. Don't have to pay MS Vital Records.

Thanks for your help. I will search the other newspapers you suggested.
I have the 1920 census you mentioned.
Thanks so much.

Alabama Virginia Michie Anderson Memorial# 6151873
died in 1920 according to her marker, but I wanted to get her death certificate. MS Vital Records searched the computer and the book, but to search the originals on file they need the month.
How kind of you to offer to look Monday! But no need for that as I live Jackson. I don't see where MDAH has Vaiden newspaper in 1920.
I was hoping you might know of records of the cemetery kept at the time of burial.
If you think of anywhere else to search, please let me know.
If I am able to get to MDAH on Monday I will look you up. Thanks so much for your offer.

I am trying to find the full death date of someone in Vaiden cemetery. Do you know if burial records for that cemetery exist? She died in 1920, so I'm not talking about early history, although that would be nice also.

I am researching the Glenwild Plantation. I notice your father 'Doc" Collins once managed the place. If you have pictures or documents from his time at GW, I would love to chat with you. My email is email@example.com. Thanks! Carla Ross
Would it be possible to add more information to your posting for my Grandmother? Her birth name was Long. Daughter of Henry Pink Long and Anna Beatty Long.

Oh ok... I saw on your second page (website) you list Major Walter Collins and that's my great grandfather.
How are you related to Houston Collins, I see that you did the write up on him however when I look at your site you make no mention of him. Houston is my fathers brother

I'm researching my fathers history and found his brother and noticed that my father was listed as a brother. My father is Donnie Collins and is still living in Kenner. I'm also looking for his two daughters (my half sisters) would you happen to know anything about them. All I have are their names.
Looking forward to hearing from you
