TO SOME OF THE RESEARCHERS: I am very disturbed in what I have been seeing here at findagrave. Some of you, I feel, are getting your records from either the Library or someplace else rather than going out into the field and seeing the headstones personally...whichever the case you need to be ABSOLUTELY SURE!! that these records are correct that you are submitting. Puting incorrect information can make it VERY HARD for those out there looking for their loved ones. If the dates you are submitting is WRONG then how is anyone going to find whom they are looking for? When looking for a name and finding a match, then looking at the dates for that person and that doesn't, by the family members records, then they are apt to think they have the wrong person and go on, when indeed it is the person whom they are trying to locate.
You see, it's all in the correct information that we all give that can give so much help to those of us trying to put our family history together. One wrong spelling or date and it makes it soooooooo hard to find someone. If you can't do the field work, and that I mean get out to the cemeteries and actually look at the headstone yourself, then DO NOT be a volunteer researcher. It is easy to sit at a desk and go through books and files at the Library and submit those findings online, but be sure and ask yourself if these records are FACT before taking that step to upload them.
Come on people, lets make this easy.....we are here to help, not to discourage and frustrate. Also, if there are full dates on the headstone(month, day and year) of birth and death, then submit the entire dates not just the year, please.
Thank you for listening.
