|William S. McDowell||RE: Thomas Backus in Marion, Ohio|
If you read my message closely, the DOB & DOD IS NOT different, they are exactly the same. What is the chance that a person with the same name, same DOB and same DOD exists; slim to none. I believe your DAR information is in error (which in my experience is not unusal) and a mix up has occurred. Regardless, I will enter a new memorial in the correct cemetery. If you change your mind about this, let me know and I will delete the memorial I've created for Thomas Backus in Mound Cemetery in Marietta.
|William S. McDowell||Thomas Backus, memorial #9041118|
Thomas IS NOT buried in the Old Marion Cemetery in Marion. He is buried in Mound Cemetery in Marietta, Washington County, Ohio which is where he died. Please change burial location and place of death. Also DOB is Aug. 8, 1875 in Norwich, New London County, CT., DOD Oct. 24, 1825, Marietta, Washington County, Ohio. His wife is also buried in this cemetery. This is my 2nd request for this change.

How exciting it is to find Thomas Woodmansee and his wife Sibel Bedon in the Fish Cemetery! While I have searched for their names here before without luck, I was at first viewing the profiles of my ggg-grandparents Wheelar & Jane (Conkright) Sherman also in Fish Cemetery.
According to other Woodmansee researchers:
Thomas b. 15 Dec 1775, d. 11 Sep 1848
Sibel b. 20 Jan 1773, d. 03 Dec 1843
I have followed this family for over 11 years, while their son Bradley B. Woodmansee m. Syphina Maria Sheldon, elder sister to my gg-grandfather David F. Sheldon. Bradley & Sylphina settled in Lorain County, Ohio. In my research, I have found and met living descendants, traced one of their children Benjamin T (most likely for Thomas) Woodmansee -- first names of both grandfathers -- to Michigan, have viewed and photographed a family Bible, and have seen many of their family headstones.
If you check my profile here, and click on my managed profiles, you'll find that of their grandson, Benjamin T Woodmansee with a photograph of my son Jack III at Benjamin's headstone. Benjamin was the only child of Bradley's and Sylphina's three who had children.
If you would be so kind as to change the last name to read "man" it will be beneficial to so many people here at Find-a-Grave and to those of us also using Ancestry.com, and we would be forever thankful.

Dodi...thanks so much for the quick turnaround on the Military Marker for W.E. Thomas..and thanks especially for walking the cemetery to try to find Samantha. I have sent a request to the Memorial owner of Samantha to put a note on the memorial that a stone does not exist...hopefully that will eliminate future requests for photo's. Again, appreciate your dedication...it sure helps to have such great volunteers!!! Happy New Year to you. I'm looking forward to spring too so I can get out and roam in the cemeteries also.
