Two of my favorite musical compositions:
Le Chancon de Claudine and
Classical Gas , both by Mason Williams.

Dear Ancestor

Your tombstone stands among the rest;
neglected and alone
The name and date are chiseled out
on polished, marbled stone
It reaches out to all who care
It is too late to mourn
You did not know that I'd exist
You died and I was born.
Yet each of us are cells of you
in flesh, in blood, in bone.
Our blood contracts and beats a pulse
entirely not our own.
Dear Ancestor, the place you filled
one hundred years ago
Spreads out among the ones you left
who would have loved you so.
I wonder if you lived and loved,
I wonder if you knew
That someday I would find this spot,
and come to visit you.

Just a note to let you know I have added Dwight's obit and the account of his death to his page in the Cherokee Cemetery. It's a sad story.

Paul and Mildred
Hello Kathy,

I will assume that you know and understand the term: snafu. This situation seems to be a snafu!I also assume that you personally knew Paul and Mildred.

I'll continue. Paul was my brother. He and his twin sister, Pauline were ten years older than me. My wife, Paul and Mildred and I attended our sister's funeral in San Antonio and her burial at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. My family and I, visited them in Sheridan a number of times. At one time we even took a young German fellow there on one of our fishing trips. Our younger son almost worshipped Paul. Paul was much like a grandfather to him.

From what little I have gleaned since Paul and Mildred passed, no one in Sheridan, knew that he had a brother!

I was told by Dave that there would be a memorial service for them later in the spring when all of their friends would be back in Michigan and we would be informed. As spring and summer went on we heard nothing until we found out that both had been cremated and that church friends had held a memorial service for them. After checking with Dave and Sherrie, it seems that they had nothing to do with the memorial service and that their lives were so hectic that they "just didn't think to inform us about the service". We were told that they had decided not to have a funeral nor a memorial service.

My information about their cremation and the disposition of their ashes came from Steve/Red in Hawaii who said he didn't attend.

Regards,

Mark Mahan

Ira Gamble, Find A Grave Memorial# 31103535
Thank you for your work on Find A Grave, it is very much appreciated.

On Ira's memorial you have his parents as John Gamble and Sarah Guff. Do you know if John was married more than once? I have seen reports that his wife was Sarah Sloniker/Slonaker and other reports that is wife was Sarah Durfee. Do you have documentation on who John married?

RE: Delores Londo
Sounds like an error in the cemetery records. You might consider adding a note about it on her memorial. I have sent a new edit with the block and lot numbers in Greenwood based on your statement of her grave location. Sorry to have bothered you.

RE: Stella and Charles Scheese
Hi Kathy. . .yes we know they are not buried together. She is in the cemetery in Blane where her son is buried also. She died way before Charles.
Charles was buried in Lincoln Mem because at the time he was living with his other son, Ray, who was military.
Haven't opened research on this for some time so I'm a little rusty but good to chat with you.
Stay in touch if you want. Enjoy and appreciate any info that comes our way of course. . . .that's what genies do! :)

RE: David Irwin
You are quite welcome! I thought it was fascinating that, at 100+, he still got around, practiced law and read without glasses. Sure would have loved to know his secret...
