John Turnage
On 28 August 1865, The Missouri Weekly Patriot, published in Springfield Missouri, printed the following information supplied by R. B. Owen, Quartermaster at the Springfield Post.

"List of Persons Interred in the Government Grave-Yard At This Post"

"Messrs. Ingram & Teed: Gents:
I herewith send you list of soldiers interred in public grave yard at this Post, which you will please publish for the information of the friends of deceased. I remark, for information of those concerned, No. 1 is at the Southwest corner, and the numbers run North, and alternately South and North, to the close of tiers, which I sincerely trust will never be increased.

R. B. Owen, A. Q. M."

John Turnage was included in the honor roll of soldiers published inThe Missouri Weekly Patriot as buried in the Government Graveyard with the following information included:

Honor Roll: John Turnags 1863
Grave number 163
Rank: private
Regiment: 3rd Missouri State Militia
Date of death: Jan 26th, 1862 (1863),
Springfield National Cemetery relocation site: blank

John Turnage was one of the 8 soldiers lost and not re-interned when the Springfield National Cemetery was constructed in 1867.

Many Thanks
Eunice, Thank You very much for the headstone photo you took and posted on Leamon Radford Green husband of Effie Lee Cantrell. His daughter, Clara, would try to tell me where he was buried but unsuccessful. She knew it was out in the Country from Nashville TN. Bless her. TreeTop just did not come to her mind. I have visited your family Memorials. I added you as a friend. Wanda G went to high school with my Aunt. Again, Thank You Eunice. Your dedication and work done on Find A Grave is very much appreciated. Blessings....Carolyn
