I have been researching family history for many years. |
My friend Kathy Barnes told me about Find a Grave. Now I am hooked too.It is a wonderful sight to find long lost relatives graves and to add new ones.
My maiden name was Riley.
I am looking for any links to the Riley's, Smith's, Christrup's, Fonss, Romans and Gallentine's.

|huguenot/dutchny||Maria Wendell Romans|
Priscilla Hexter in Palo Alto CA emailed me recently looking for the death date and place of burial of Maria Wendell Romans. I am related through her brother Hendrik Janse Wendell parents were Jacob Wendell and Helena Van Rensselaer.
I think she found me through the Dutch Settlers Society or New Netherlands Institute where I am a member. It is through this direct line from my maternal grandmother Rosiland Van derveer Wendell La Grange that gave me membership into the NSDAR and shortly Holland Dames. Hope you can clarify so I can relate this to her. Thank you for your help.
|huguenot/dutchny||Evert Janse Wendell|
I've been informed by a Dave Peck that there are 3 listings for Evert Janse Wendell, my progenitor. I am a direct relative all protestant through Jeronimus, Harmanus, Jacob, Hendrik, Robert Henry, Robert Henry Lansing, James Van Vorst, Edward Jansen, Rosiland van derveer Wendell La Grange my grandmother. Several family members, Christopher Wendell Bowditch Albany NY, his sister Katrina in ME members of DAR/SAR. I am member of the local DAR in CT, New Netherlands Institute, Dutch Settlers Society. Dr Charles Warner Wendell of NJ, Holland society NYC and Dr Theodore Wright, friends are related by the second marriage Martje Van Deusen/Thomas Mingael. Therefore among other women with Holland Dames we are related.There is either very limited or inaccurate information on 2 of the websites. I think these need to be withdrawn as Dave stated.

|Kathy Londo Barnes||William Francis Riley AKA Frankie W.|
Hi! You have a grave for William Francis Riley. This is what he is shown as in the 1880 census. He is buried though under the name Frankie W. Also the stone cutter has his death as July 29, 1880. Your document is probably right-but I though I'd let you know. There is a Find A Grave memorial for Frankie.
|Kathy Londo Barnes||Dellaphine Ora Riley AKA Ora Welch|
You have a grave for Delaphine O. Riley-Nov. 8, 1882-Nove 8, 1882.
"Mary died May 6, 1926. May 24, 1926 Ora Welch, Simon and Mary's daughter, wrote a letter requesting any pension money still owed to her mother, to help pay doctor bills, funeral expenses, ect. On June 7, 1926, Winfield Scott, a commissioner responed. The last payment that went to Mary on May 3, 1926 (she died three days later), 'the accured pension amounts to only three dollars, which amount would probably be expended by the socst of presenting a claim for reimbursment."
Dellaphine is living in Broomfield Twp. Isabella Co. in the 1920 census, w/two daughter's , her husband, his niece and her mother Mary Riley, who's 75. 1910 census shows that she had three children and two are living. Ora was the only child to live to adulthood.

|Keith Reeves||Daughter of Bernard Romans / Elizabeth van Hovenburg|
I am actively seeking the burial locations of Bernard Romans (b. 1784, d. bet. 1820-26). This Bernard was the famous Bernard's grandson and was the son of Pieter Milo Romans (1762-1823).
This younger Bernard married Elizabeth van Hovenburg, daughter of Lt. Rudolph van Hovenburg and Lydia van Dyck.
Bernard and Elizabeth had several children, including Catherine Romans (b. 1812, d. ca. 1877), who married Samuel Westfall(b. 1807) and later died in Newark, New York.
If you have any information pertaining to Bernard, Elizabeth, or their daughter Catherine, I'd be tremendously obliged. There is a Bernard Romans buried in Baldwinsville (Memorial #53910645) that is promising, but there are no details. Family genealogical records and an historic record from the mid-19th century indicates Elizabeth Van Hovenburg Romans is buried in the Newark Cemetery, but recent efforts to locate it have been fruitless. Thanks in advance!

Hello Betty, would like to know where you got the photo of John and hendrika. I'm assuming that the older couple is the subject of the posting. Do you know if the other people are their children and which is which? Leonard, one of their sons, was my great- great grandfather and I've never seen a picture of any of them. Thanks. Sally
