HI, I have been researching my Genealogy since July of 2000. I really enjoy visting Cemeteries and takeing pictures. Headstones are so awesome, they come in all different shape, sizes, Colors, and the engravings express how someone was feeling at the time this person died. I believe you can some what see what kind of a person was by their headstone. And sometime a headstone is all that is left on this earth. I live in Allegan, Michigan |

Thank you for photographing and adding the stone for Doyle (Tom). I didn't know Betty, his wife had passed, so that is new information for me. Tom was my first cousin, although we hadn't kept in touch for quite a few years. He was a favorite when growing up.

Same here. Hope a nice weekend. Just got a little rain here...we really needed it.

Doing research on his wife Mary Catherine Beard Manes. Was wondering if you are related to John Manes?

The records (http://www.lib.rochester.edu/IN/RBSCP/Databases/IMAGES/MtHope/disc2/00000951.pdf) show that she was interred on June 16, 1948. [And, for what it's worth, her given age at death would suggest she was born in 1863.]

You didn't have a death date for him...and a survey of this section of the cemetery (http://mcnygenealogy.com/cem/mthope-range-6b.htm) suggests that his gravestone doesn't have one either, but according to the Mt Hope Interment Records (http://www.lib.rochester.edu/IN/RBSCP/Databases/IMAGES/MtHope/disc2/00001087.pdf), he was interred on October 7, 1938 (which is usually a few days after death).
There are different opinions as to birth year. You have 1870 on the memorial but, according to the survey, the gravestone says 1871. If the age at death in the interment records is to be believed, he was born in 1875.
At any rate, it should be straightforward for I or another volunteer to get a photo of the gravestone.

The age: 30 was on the cemetery records. Don't know if this is correct because they are not always. If his dates are correct he would of been 79 yrs.
You requested a picture for her and I found the spot where she should be according to the online records. There is no marker but I will be going back to check for other names and will walk the whole thing. If I find it in another location I will photograph it and let you know where as best as I can. In the meantime I will load what I have and if you want it removed I gladly do so.

You're welcome. Did you see that I also added photos for Rollin and Catherine Wilcox? Their names were on the other side of the monument, so I seized the opportunity of snapping the photos and when I checked the web site, found they didn't have photos either.

I am in Orwell VT and visited Mountain View Cemetery. I found a Wilcox head stone and believe it is your Mary. With the type of stone it is, I could not capture the inscription in one photo and had to take numerous ones, but the dates match up, but I'm not sure the spouse does. I'm going to post them, check them out and let me know if you concur it is your Mary.
