Bio Photo Welcome -

We are doing a holy service by remembering the dead, and preserving history.

I think we all have a piece of the puzzle and if everyone contributes, questions will be answered.

This a wonderful site for remembering people. Peoples lives are fascinating and they deserve to be remembered and documented.

Please remember we are not just entering names or stones, but real people. Please ask yourself if your memorial is search-able. All memorials should have last names. Women who never marry, and children don't have maiden names. There is no maiden name unless the name changes. Also please do not use ().

Please do NOT create duplicates.

If you notice any mistakes, please let me know, and I will be happy to fix them. Nobody is perfect, we are all fallible human beings mostly doing the best we can at the moment.

We are merely stewards of 'our' memorials - we manage them and are entrusted with their care and maintenance, but we do not technically 'own' them.

Please read the FAQs (frequently asked questions). Thanks, and please try to resolved unknown burials ASAP.

Please free to use any of my photos with appropriate citations. Will also add updates, -the more info, the better. I don't have a policy about transfers - ask and we can work it out.

"A cemetery is a history of people - a perpetual record of yesterday and sanctuary of peace and quiet today. A cemetery exists because every life is worth loving and remembering - always." (author unknown)

Additional information for Hugh Clark

Dear Donna,

I have been working on my family tree and just discovered you have already put my great-grandfather Hugh Clark, buried in Riverside Cemetery, Ulster County, New York, into Find-a-Grave.

I would like to add information to help complete what you have. How can I do that?

Sincerely,
Julie Clark Brough

RE: Susan M Sutton Buckie
Susan M. "Caffey" Buckie was not previously married that I am aware of at this time. This is the information I have at this time for her. I follow the Hamlen lines as my 3X Great Grandmother was a Hamlen/Hamlin. Carrie "Hamlen" Caffey Sutton, (Susan's mother) was the daughter of George & Margaret Hamlen which you linked to her. In George's obit in 1905, his children are listed, one being Mrs. Joseph Caffey of New York which is Carrie. Joseph & Carrie had two children, Ethel & Susan according to the census records. Our local paper has an obit for Joseph Caffey who died in N.Y. in 1924, which I am going to pull this week and he had a N.Y. death record for his death there. Carrie's mother died in 1934 and I have her obituary, she now lists two surviving daughters, one being, Mrs. Carrie Sutton of Elizabeth. In the 1930 census, Carrie is living with Charles & Susan Buckie in Elizabeth and is listed as the mother-in-law of Charles. At this point, she must have remarried after Joseph Caffey's death to a Sutton who is not Susan's father. There is also an obit (12.9.1958) for Carrie Sutton in our local Easton, Pa. newspaper that I am going to also pull this week. I can only conclude that the reason being it is in our local paper was because this is where her family was born and lived in which was Phillipsburg N.J. which is across the river from Easton. Susan was the daughter of Carrie's first marriage to Joseph Caffey, not the Sutton. In the 1900 census, Carrie is listed as having 2 children with Joseph and as far as I know, they are the only two she had, Susan born 1896 and Ethel born 1888. I will know more after I pull Carrie's obit. At this point I am 100% sure Susan's maiden name is Caffey not Sutton based on what I have researched and listed above and what you have seen in her husband's obit that she was Susan Caffey Buckie. It is up to you as her memorial is under your care as to whether you wish to list it as Caffey.

I'm thinking it means Phillipsburg Church Records.

RE: Phillipsburg Cemetery
Yes, that would be a good one. But Carol & David have recently add a lot of memorials and have added some pictures recently. Maybe they took all the photos and will be adding them? And most of their memorials have the notation PCR on them. Do you know what that means?
