Ace Crawford
RE: Edward Crawford (1832-1864).

I sent two emails to the email address in your profile, If that is no longer correct, you may want to update it.

Essentially, I just asked if you have an account, and I wanted you to know that most of the information which I have on the Crawford line is based upon research, not first hand knowledge.

In the Crawford line, I have profiles on your parents, grandparents, great grandparents and great great grandparents. It's more complete on some tan others.

I haven't done research on the Cleek line, although I have a profile on your father.

Your grandfather was Edward Crawford, Jr, born 14 Feb 1863 in Sullivan County - died 26 Jan 1918 in Sullivan County. he is interred at the Crawford Cemetery (some call the Old Crawford Family Cemetery) on the grounds of Solomons Temple Missionary Baptist Church at the intersection of Lone Star Road, Blairs Gap road and Beech Creek Road, in Sullivan County. Birth, death and burial (28 Jan 1918) dates were taken from his death certificate.

I have very little information on your grandmother, Rebecca Ann Dobbins Crawford. She was born about Oct 1867 in Greene County, TN and died 24 Jan 1907 in Elizabeth, Miller County, MO.

The 1900 census reflects your grandparents residing in Jackson Township, Clinton County, MO. There were 5 others in the household: Florida, 8; Arlen, 6; Ivie B., 4; Effie J., 3; and Dannie, 3 months.

The 1910 census reflects your grandfather, age 48 and widowed residing in Civil District 15 Greene County, TN. Again, there were 5 others in the household: Florida, 18; Orland, 16; Iva, 14; Effie, 12; and Carrie, 7.

Remember, there are errors in census data. Respondents don't always remember dates or ages, and many can't spell. Census takers can't always spell either.

I have you mother and her siblings as follows:

Florida, born 19 Dec 1892 in Sullivan County and died about 1951 in Sullivan County. He is interred the Lone Star Cemetery in the Lone Star community in Sullivan County. He was married twice: 1) Georgia Broyles with whom I have found no record of children; and 2)Virgie Elizabeth Morrison with whom he had 3 children. I can also provide data on them.

Arlen, born about Aug 1893 in either Sullivan County, TN or Clinton County, MO.

Your mother. I have her birth as 6 Jul 1895 in either Sullivan County, TN or Clinton County, MO. Death data is covered pretty well in her death certificate and Find A Grave memorial.

Effie, born about May 1897 in either Sullivan County, TN or Clinton County, MO. I believe she married a Jones, but the only file I can read while tying this to you doesn't remind me of how or why I believe that.

Harmon Danie Crawford. A delayed birth certificate, submitted by Harmon on May 10, 1942, reflects his birth date as 3 Feb 1900 in Kingsport, Sullivan County, TN. There were 3 pieces of supporting evidence: 1) family bible record dated 3 Feb 1900; 2) an affidavit by his uncle, Lee Vestal, dated 5-10-43; and 3) an affidavit by Dave Miles dated 5-10-43. Technically, he couldn't have been born in Kingsport, because Kingsport's city charter was withdrawn during the Civil War. It was re-chartered sometime around 1910. You can probably find the exact date on their web site. Harmon died 4 May 1946 in Knoxville, Knox County, TN and was interred 7 or 8 May 1946 at Shelby Hills Cemetery in Sullivan County. His obituary was published in the Thursday, May 9, 1946 edition of the Kingsport Times. He married Bonny (last name unknown to me) and had at least 2 children: Edward and Stanley.

Carie, born 9 Sep 1903 in Clinton County, MO and died about Mar 1975 in Bristol, Sullivan County, TN. She married Dale E. McMurray about 1919.

I can fill in more details as yu want them, but it would be better to do it via email. Please email me at, so I can get a good address for you.
