I was born in Vaiden, MS, on Dec. 31, 1954 to Alf Trotter Collins and Juanita Hambrick Collins.|
I lived in Vaiden, MS until 1979, Winona, MS until 1981, when I moved to Jackson, MS. In 1990, I moved to Florence, MS, where I still reside.
I have two wonderful sons, Sean and Cody, and I worked as a Level 2 Computer Field Technician for AmSouth Bank, In-House Technician for Trustmark Bank and Field Technician for CompuCom servicing 10 Lowe's stores in Mississippi.
I have an A.A. Degree in Pre-Law; a B.S. Degree in History with a Minor in English; and a Master of Social Sciences with an emphasis in History.
I have written and maintain 240+ web pages, including listings of the burials in the Vaiden Mississippi Cemetery (White) and the Vaiden Community Cemetery (African-American).
So far, my family history has been traced back to my 14th Generation Grandfather, John Collins I, who was the keeper of the Gael (prison) for King Charles I of England (son of James I - of the King James Bible fame). Other relatives include another King (Elvis).
Other hobbies include motorcycles, making music as a drummer, historical research, adding entries to Find-a-Grave (since 08/11/2000), and watching and collecting DVDs.

Was looking at my Aunt's brother in law's memorial (for which I am sending some edits), William "Bill" Baldwin. Say you go back to the Gaol keeper of Charles I. His path must have crossed my distant cousin, William Purefoy, as he was one of the signer of the death sentence for Charles I. Just thought it was interesting connection.

Ok! Cheers Ron!

Hi there, I visit one of the memorials that you created, Audrie Taylor Pott, (#108366918) and noticed that the date that she died is wrong. It was the 12th of September not the 10th just to let you know and correct accordingly.

Saw your post on her memorial...looking for info on her family in Vaiden, particularly the Stephens line. Any suggestions? Thanks! Kathie

|Marguerite Collins||John M Collins of Jasper and Pike Counties, GA|
You seems to have great knowledge of the early Georgian Collins family with the names John or Jack Collins. My tree has a John M "Jack" Collins, a gg grandfather who was born in GA about 1798. On the Feb 28, 1820 City of Savannah, Chatham Co. Census he is listed as head of household.(Looks like all brothers)
On 1821 Land Lottery he is a fortunate drawer of land listed in Monroe County. He is listed as John M Collins- Chatham - Mills District - Lot 154 - Section 1. He is on the 1830 Census in Monroe County, GA with wife (known to us as Isabelle Walker) and among other children, our family knew the names of, my great grandfather, Moses Wiley Collins (1824 - 1905). MW and brother JL ran away from home after his father married 3rd wife Lucinda Strength in 1836 and MW only appears on an 1850 AL Census, we don't know too much about John M Jack's later life except up to 1856. His widow, Lucinda Collins appears in AL in 1870 & 1880. The two sons didn't reestablish a relationship with their father. But, if you can provide any information about John M "Jack" or his ancestors, that would be appreciated. Gratefully, Marguerite Frances Collins
Please help me fill in the blanks....
John "Cleveland" McCorkle had 9 siblings according to US Consensus. The ones I found were, James R McCorkle (DOB: 1879 Death: 1972 and Neta Frances McCorkle (Welch married name, DOB: 1882 Death:1979. I couldn't find the other siblings.
It seems the parents of John, James, and Neta were William Paul McCorkle and Mary L. McCorkle (Green maiden name). I found this through the US Consensus search. I see that William Paul McCorkle had two wives, Mary L. McCorkle and Mary Harrell McCorkle. So, it seems there are several half brothers and sisters?
I'm interested in who was Neta Frances McCorkle (Welch married name) her mother. I'm her great granddaughter and would like to know more info about the correct side of her family. Neta Frances McCorkle married George Washington Welch. You can only find these two names under my grandmother Ina Mae "Mae" Wall memorial, find A Grave # 102219972. I have contacted Martha McCorkle who created Ina Mae Wall site. I'm waiting for her response.
Please let me know if you have any information that could help.
Thank you. Neta (I'm named after Neta Frances McCorkle Welch)

Thanks very much on the transfer of the three memorials of my mother's family...I will try to be worthy. I have also contacted the member who linked the wrong husband to Myrtis Conner, sent her extensive documentation via email, and she will hopefully now make that correction.
|Allan Garner||RE: Myrtis C. Smith|
Thanks Ron, I sent them a message as well (current admin), so hopefully they will correct it.
