As a lifetime history buff, and having lived near some old cemeteries, it is only "natural" that the two are now combined.
I've catalogued all the Confederate fallen in the Spotsylvania Confederate Cemetery in Spotsylvania Courthouse, Va. I will soon publish a roster/book with these findings and short bios/service records of these men. It will be presented to the Spotsylvania Courthouse Museum.
Also, I'm in the process of doing the same for the Confederate fallen and veterans in the Fredericksburg Confederate and City cemeteries.
The Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania County Battlefields National Park Service refers Confederate burial inquiries to me.

Look what we found this week in church storage. Mint condition marker. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=22821968. Anything about its shape or config give you any ideas -- why, when etc it was created.

Thank you so much for adding the birth info on my ancestor. As you do work with the area, is it possible in any way to get a corrected or addition to the stone for his name? I know how to contact the military for other veterans but have never come across am incorrect Confederate veteran. Any information would be awesome. Thanks.

Album
Dan,
I had been working on my family history and happened to be discussing it with my in-laws. They had pulled a family album passed down from Thomas B. Gayle, Jr. out and were going through it. Most of the photos were of their immediate family but someone had made multiple copies of some of the older tintypes and photographs and had placed them in there. It is possible that there are some even older ones out there with other relatives in VA. As far as I know, the ones I uploaded are the only ones that any immediate family has.

RE: Colonel Higgenbotham
Hi Dan

I just looked into your mention of a possible duplicated. I cannot yet confirm this because there are no other Col. John Carlton Higgenbotham in the cemetery, just a "J.C. Higgenbottom, a confedrate soldier " which could be the same or a totally different person.Plus under the photo request your reported "Cemetery office confirmed that this burial is unmarked" and the other has a photo of a marker. Please keep me informed if this changes.

Regards Dave

Dan,

Thanks, so much, for creating my 2Ggrandfather's memorial (#68721399) and posting the picture of his headstone. Then to go the extra mile and compile his bio was very gracious of you. It's a very nice tribute for someone who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Regards,
Al Howell
