I love "FindAGrave"! It's a wonderful concept. I will be adding more of my family and, hopefully, of others from the cemeteries in this area.

Hi Kaye,

You're welcome. Do you know if the graves that were originally at the Oakland Cemetery had markers? If First Trinity has records then maybe, Mount Royal might have records, too but I've encountered quite a few that were in your position. There are plot #s, however, only Mount Royal knows them. If not, maybe if you cannot find out anything, simply indicate that these are "unmarked graves" so that it is clear that one will not find markers for these buried individuals.

I've seen quite a few "Unknown" markers in the Oakland Section and Oakland Singles Section but one cannot say who they are. I've entered about 11 "unknowns" thus far. I think one other member has entered 1-2 or something.

All the best to you,

Albertico :)

Hi Albertico, Thank you so much for the reminder that I need to call to see what I can find out. I appreciate your help. These are old graves and may be among those with no markers. However, if there are plot #s within the Oakland Section, it would be helpful. If not, then I'll document the memorials with the finalized info.
Regards, Kaye

Hello there. I saw your memorial and noted that you suggested that she was buried at Oakland Cemetery which now doesn't exists and all were supposedly re-interred in Mount Royal Cemetery. Did you try contacting First Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church? They have records and perhaps may know if your relative was re-interred. It is my understanding that all were re-interred but there are many that are without markers. I think many of us volunteers photographed everything that could be photographed in that section. There are many "unmarked" graves there. Some say in the transfer process many of the markers were damaged thus why many are without markers. Here is the church's information and hope you can find out more. I am going to send you an edit request to change the "plot" information and add "Oakland Section" to it. If you look at the map that is on Mount Royal Cemetery's page here on Finda, you'll see there are designated areas where these re-interred were placed ("Oakland Section" and "Oakland Singles"). Was she the only relative that was in Oakland Cemetery that was re-interred? Hope you will find out more information. Best of luck to you. :)

Mount Royal Cemetery Records, OAKLAND SECTION, Inquiries should be made to: FIRST TRINITY EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 531 North Neville Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15213; Telephone: 412-683-4121.

You are most welcome, I like doing more than just the close up photo, it gives you more of a feeling of being there than just a headstone photo. Glad you like them.

Kaye, I'm sorry you apparently did not receive my previous emails. I hope you receive the one I just sent. I attempted back in the Fall to get you the information you requested but due to illness and deaths in the family it sort of fell by the wayside. I'll get back on it ASAP! I am related to Chloe, although I didn't know that branch of my family until about 2 years ago. I will try to get you the information you requested soon!!

RE: John Quincy Aten & Ida Mae Jackson
Our common ancestor is William T Aten Sr 1779-1859 & Jane Anderson 1785-1835. I have John Quincy Aten 1870-1935 & Ida May Jackson 1871-1945 in my tree but have no information on Ida's ancestors.

RE: Frederick
Don't feel bad. That's happened to me more often than I'd care to admit. I think Find A Grave's search engine is rather touchy, too. Sometimes a memorial is listed with an initial for a first name and if you use the entire first name, the search won't give you results. At least that's my excuse.

I'm so happy you didn't ignore my message or react angrily. That's happened to me, too.

Thanks for replying!
